No Time. No Foolin’.

I spent virtually every waking hour this weekend doing one of the following:

  1. coding, and/or thinking about my code (the latter probably occurred in my non-awake hours as well)
  2. traveling to/from work
  3. eating

Even my one attempt at R&R, watching The Amazing Race, was foiled by CBS’ airing of the Country Music Awards. Dangen! Hell, I even skipped Mad Men last night because I was in deep thought.

Can you tell that I am way behind schedule? And thanks to the surgery scheduled this week to address the sebaceous cysts on my back I have even less time that I originally scheduled. Speaking of the surgery, I supposed that it’s a good thing that I am more stressed about the logistics of getting to/from the hospital, where I will stay post-surgery on Thursday evening, and how I will manage to un-bandage and bandage the portions of my back which I cannot reach, than I am the actual surgery — not that I am not stressed out about that too. It’s minor-surgery, but surgery (and my first) nonetheless. Since I have no idea who I can ask for a ride to/from the hospital I’ve considered lodging at the Motel 6, which is 0.75 miles from Piedmont Hospital, on Thursday night. I figure that I can walk from/to there, though the weather forecast is predicting rain. Dangen!

Okay, time to make the code.

Cheers,
Paulie [eatl/ga]

What day? Thursday? If it is Thursday, what time? I can probably drop you off and/or pick you up…you don’t want to stay at a hotel, you’ll want to be at home. Trust me…

  2. Yeah, Thursday. I need to be at Piedmont Hospital at 11am, the procedure is scheduled for 1pm, and who knows when I’ll be let out that afternoon.

Geez Martha, I still have not returned the favor for all you did for me last year. I’m really going to owe you if you can provide transportation this time around too. 🙂

  3. Martha says:

Okay, I can pick you up, no problem. Let me see what I can do about dropping you off, I have a meeting from 10-10:30ish…

Don’t think twice about it…this is pay back for pulling my sleeping/drunk ass out of my car with the key in the ignition …twice. 🙂

  4. Barb says:

If I wasn’t so far away, I’d offer to help, if Allan wasn’t working at Hyox, I’d offer him 😉

there’s always a taxi/marta ride to get there, now that Martha can give you a ride home.

as for helping with the bandages, that is NOT my thing, but I can send Allan to help with that if you need him.

  5. Barb says:

and- it is Allan’s birthday today, he’s at Hyox this morning, he tried to take the day off, but they really needed the help, so he is there this morning. Then, he’s going to work in/on the yard for probably most of the rest of the day. Bought a bunch of 1 gal size alaleas to line the patio, smaller than I really wanted, but I jsut can’t spend hundreds of $$ on that sort of thing, I jsut can’t do it.

Trying to decide what to do for dinner, might have some seared tuna, that is always a nice treat.

We sat outside on the deck last night watching TV in the gorgeous weather – my wireless U-Verse box is so cool to be able to do that. Wanted to watch Amazing Race, but since that wasn’t on, we watched a few episodes of Alcatraz on the DVR.

  6. Randy says:

Happy Birthday to Allan! Today is also Nolan’s birthday (and the little girl across the street). I don’t think I’ve ever known three people in different families who share the same birthday. Pretty cool.

Glad you bagged Orlando, Paulie. The boys would be very sad if Uncle Paulie could not join us at LEAF!

Hope everyone had a nice weekend… Happy Monday.

  7. I took the last bandage off (with much pain) using the handle to my toilet scrubber. Speaking of scrubbers, I bought a loofa sponge on a stick from Target Saturday — not that I’ll be able to use of for a while post-surgery. I also bought a bottle of H2O2 (aka “Hydrogen Peroxide) for a whopping 82 cents. If only all medication were so cheap.

Happy birthday to Allan and Nolan! Randy, I don’t know if I’d call Kyla a “little girl”, she’s a woman after all. 🙂 (I know, that’s not who you meant).

Look at you Barb, with the fancy-pants wireless receiver. Wireless is such a fad — which is why my employer has yet to develop one. LOL.

Dinner for me tonight should have been with the RPS guys, but tonight will be laptop and lavanderia, so I suppose dinner will either be Las Tortas or a Banh Mi.

  8. Steve says:

    Happy Birthday Allan!!

Good racing in Tampa, despite the MONSOON and high winds through the middle of the program. I think I may have dried out by now, but I’m still squishy in places. There was also a race there on Sunday and I just heard a 68 year old man crashed in the sprint and landed on top of his head. Ouch. Lots of old guys still race down there… amazing.

Paulie, are you planning on working from home on Friday? We could always haul you down to the day spa for some R&R- Debie loves dressing wounds.

We could do some planes, trains and automobiles that involves the Jackmobile and the party Friday night. I could pick you up afterwards and take you to the day spa, you relax or work from there Friday, then come up with Debbie to the party. Easy-peasy.

  9. bets says:

Paulie/Martha–I can fetch paulie from hospital in the afternoon thursday if your schedule doesn’t allow it. I leave dunwoody about 4:30. Just let me know.

Will also be on hand for bandage dressing. I love dressing wounds too! There just never seems to be enough wounds around, so this is a great opportunity. 🙂

  10. Martha says:

I would offer to help with the bandaging, I have lots of experience, with four legged patients, but we are heading to Indy Friday Morning.

It should be no problem picking Paulie up, but I’ll need to either drop you off early of a little late if no one else is available.

  11. Barb says:

Steve – unless you have a different party that I’m not invited to, my party isn’t until Saturday night.

  12. bets says:

OK I could take Paulie there if he’d be willing to be there at 9:30 in the morning.

  13. Steve says:

I thought your party was Friday!! I had a whole plan worked out!! Crap.

  14. Barb says:

Allan will be at the firehouse on Friday 4/6, but – 4/7 a Saturday, there will be a party at my house.

  15. Okay, here’s what I think so far:

Betsy, please pick me up at my house and drop me off (9:30 is fine, I’ll bring my iPad on which I can read) and perform the bandage procedures on Friday.

Martha, please pick me up at the hospital and take me back to my house on Thursday afternoon.

Steve, please be at Barb’s on Saturday instead of Friday. I’ll see you then, and if my pain medication permits will tip a pint of ale with you.

All, thank you so much! There will be a party in your honor some time this summer.

  16. Debbie says:

Paulie, I can take you. Just let me know what time I need to be at the ITP estate. I don’t suppose they would let me watch the surgery? 🙂 I shoulda been a doctor or vet. I’m also aces at taking out stitches.

Happy Birthday to Allan and Nolan and unnamed Raleigh girl.

  17. Barb says:

just in case you were wondering, and I know you probably weren’t – Allan gives the Doritos Taco at Taco Bell a thumbs up!
Yes- that is what he thought would be good for his birthday lunch – he’s been wanting to try that taco.

  18. Debbie says:

I must have been typing when you posted. Feel free to have me as a back up on either end if something comes up. It would give me a good excuse to have lunch with Steve.
