Closing Time

Waiting on someone to arrive (late) for the closing on my home refinancing. Will try to post a real blog later.

Just a quick hit because I have a ton of work on my plate today…

And Closed!
(of course I have three business days to cancel the transaction)

I’m not sure that I got the best deal available but I’ve decreased my interest rate from 5.625% fixed to 4.25% fixed and switched from a twenty-year mortgage to a fifteen-year mortgage, with no closing costs to me. My monthly payment will no be low enough to keep me from seeking an apartment (imagine that, especially knowing of the major scars and bruises that the ITP estate has!).

Trying to make my life better…

And My Day Just Got A Little Bit Better
A coworker just dropped off a bottle of homebrew beer.

It Was More Than A Meal, It Was A Vegetarian Meal
Many thanks to ITP-Reader Betsy for not only coming over to watch Top Chef last night, but bringing all of the fixings necessary for making a delicious dinner — pasta with a delicious gravy and some green beans that we roasted.

I’ve committed to preparing next week’s meal and am going to start preparing mentally to see if match her wonderful creations. Perhaps I’ll try something from the “How to Cook Everything” app from Mark Bittman that I just downloaded for free thanks to Starbucks.

Probably Not Camping This Weekend
I’ll most likely be working again this weekend. Don’t cry for me, I’ve chosen to do this.

  1. Steve says:

    Happy new loan!

  2. Thanks Steve, I’m hoping that’s the case.

  3. Stacy Fox says:

Hey – awesome on the new loan! Will the savings enable you to finally be able to fix the water/pipes? I know that’s been a major project to have to consider. How cool would that be to finally be rid of for good!

  4. Yeah, it’s time for me to “man up” (can a female “woman up”?) and start making the repairs necessary to make the ITP estate a functional home.

  5. Stacy Fox says:

Well, not so much that as more that once it’s done? The thought of being able to move away, or to an apartment, or whatever is so much more achievable. Sounds like in the scheme of trying to make your life better, that would be an awesome relief to have that off your plate.

I think females can “woman up.” 🙂 Question is: can a male “woman up?”

  6. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

Given that my mortgage interest and property taxes are my two biggest race deductions my current (new) monthly payment makes homeownership almost seem attractive (for now).

  7. Barb says:

did you re-fi with the same bank? We are at 4.25% for a 20 year –

  8. Martha says:

There is no way I could rent a place for what my mortgage is right now and that includes taxes and insurance. I’m not going to refi until I see rates start to go up or when we are ready to renovate…which ever come first. Can’t beat 3.0%.

And Stacy, no most men could never “woman up”. 😉

Well as much as I don’t like it, today is my Friday. We found out this week that we must follow the CDC’s holdiay schedule. We sort of knew that for people that work on site, but come to find out they are holding the management team to the same schedule. I was only planning on working a half day tomorrow, we are going to leave for Columbus in the afternoon, but I was counting on the ‘quite’ time to get some much needed projects started.

  9. I did. This was the offer that my mortgage holder (Chase) offered to me. I didn’t do any research into refinancing and decided to go for it once I realized it wasn’t a (complete?) scam and that my monthly payment would be reduced.

The only man I know to have “womaned up” was Rogue Anus. 😉

  10. chef bets says:

pasta with a delicious gravy = a red wine sauce reduction with fresh rosemary, mushrooms and garlic served over tagliatelle.

Had to do it! C’mon It’s Top Chef night!

  11. Hehe, I remembered the ingredients but in my rush decided to say “delicious gravy” 🙂

  12. Stacy Fox says:

Hahahahaha — love the “chef bets” – nicely done! 🙂
