And back down I go. Scrap my goal to remain healthy all month, for I indeed suffered the onset of a cold yesterday. Change in temperatures? Spending ninety minutes in a closed tube with over one hundred of my closest friends? Bad luck? Whatever the cause, I have it and it’s caused me to call in sick this morning.
Ill Paulie -> Stationary Paulie
My training schedule is taking a beating. The illness I started feeling yesterday kept me from making my appointed rounds yesterday. I am not sure if going out at some time today would be imminently wise either. I need to keep the Big Picture in mind and not focus too much on these minor setbacks.

Table For One — Again
Last night I decided that I should probably eat something, though I had little to no hunger, and that I should use a Groupon in the process. Given that I had two Groupons for Spoon in East Atlanta I decided to give it a chance and eat some spicy Thai in the process. Of course I looked like hell (I need a second shower for my hair to look decent at night) and I sat in around three rather attractive women, including a stunning young blonde who was eating with a male coworker of hers. Of course not a single one looked at me but that’s par for the course.
I ate a bowl of Tom Yum soup with shrimp ($5) and a plate of Kang Keaw Wan (aka Green Curry) with chicken ($13) and somehow managed to still be charged $1.44 in addition to my $20 coupon. I left a fiver on the table and walked away somewhat satisfied with my meal and completely dissatisfied with my station in life.
Top Chef Double-Feature Night
I didn’t get a chance to watch last week’s Top Chef so tonight will be a double-feature! Even better, ITP-Reader Betsy is coming over to watch as well, and rumor has it that she’s planning on bringing over some Tasty China.

but now the question is – which Tasty China? I haven’t been to the new one yet, so I have no idea if ther really will be a huge difference or not.
Sorry you aren’t feeling well…….
It’ll be from Tasty China 1 as I believe she is having someone bring it to George’s for a hand off.
Betsy here–chiming in to take a break from the usual lurking in the corner ITP reader position.
The original Tasty China in Mayretta–being delivered by Gary via George’s. The food will have traveled a good bit so we’ll have to reheat and avoid the dishes that don’t reheat too well–sorry eggplant. I think the tofu with hot chili oil will knock paulie’s viruses out of left field.
Paulie– are you ready for company? I need me some TC/TC (top chef/tasty china for the uninitiated) , but not if you’re an incubus of viral plague….well, maybe it’s still worth it. ๐
Paulie, i really hope you don’t have what I’ve had. I started feeling bad last Tuesday, missed 4 days, came back to work yesterday and it still hurts to talk. I’ve NEVER been this sick with a “cold”(which is what the doctor my gf called Saturday said it was). If you feel like it’s not a normal cold, RUN to the doc’s tomorrow and get anti-biotics. I wish I had.
Oh, and the pic reminds me of The Big Lebowski. Mark it 8, dude.
brought by “someone” (I knew it was Gary).
Tofu (or the fish) in the hot chili oil could work to knock whatever out of you. Allan says it clears out his pores, sinuses & I’m not sure what else ๐
Damn, that sounds good tonight, but we have to eat salad & other leftovers tonight – someday we will cook enough for just 2 people for dinner, instead of 4.
I should be okay by TC time. I’ll promise not to share utensils or double dip, and to consume alcohol to limit your exposure.
Thanks for the info Vic. If I feel badly tomorrow (other than hungover) Iรขโฌโขll pay my doctor a visit.
I didn’t want to compromise Gary’s safety. ๐
Okay did I miss something? Where did you eat last night??
I had something, it was pretty bad for about four days (at least two others that were at the last PBR night had the same thing) but lingered for about two weeks. It was just a cold, no antibiotics needed. Sore throat, runny nose, a few aches, it moved to my chest for about 36 hours, that was the worst of it, of course that was the day I had to drive to Cincy by myself.
Paulie, a girlfriend and I are running Saturday. Five I think, you are welcome to join us, we keep the pace pretty slow. Dani is a great athlete but not much of a runner ๐ Then we are heading to Sope Creek on Sunday with some others. As long as your symptoms are above the neck there is no reason to not workout.
Sharp eye, Martha. I managed to put in the link for Spoon, but then failed type “Spoon” into the hyperlink.
Today I feel fair, with a runny nose and slightly rundown. I’ll be resting most of today in addition to taking care of things around the house (for instance I just went through all of last week’s mail).
I’ll keep Saturday in mind and let you know.
I figured it had to be Spoon (or Sppon) or EA Thai and Sushi. We went to Spoon last Friday, I wasn’t feeling well so we ended getting it to go. Jerry always get Thai Hot, which is way to hot for me to enjoy. I ended up with a couple of basil rolls. I think we still have a coupon for BOGO free, maybe Sunday we will head back.
I’ve got some pomegranate green tea I bought when I was sick, made me feel better. I can drop some off on my way home if you like.
Love the pic. Sorry you’re not feeling well. I’d say to try and run as long as there isn’t any fever. Just don’t get that far from the house.

Ha! You got to my update before I could read that I typed “Sppon” and went back to update it. The tea sounds delicious. I plan to head to a store after my 1pm conference call (I may be sick, but I can still call in).
I don’t feel as if I have a fever. I suppose that I could use my fancy-pants digital thermometer to find out for certain. Maybe the next time I crawl out of bed…
and – I forgot to say this earlier – the title of today’s blog – TMI
Wait, today’s blog is TMI? Compared to the past six years? Huh, go figure.
just the title ๐
