Truncated Thursday

Sleep trumps blogging this morning. I woke up insanely tired, and with a bit of a runny nose (I hope today doesn’t destroy my goal of two illness-free months in a row) and decided to give my body a little bonus by going back to sleep.

Last night’s seats for the Braves game were awesome (thanks again ITP-Reader Debbie!). I took this shot with my iPhone’s digital zoom all the way zoomed in.

Boy – too busy sleeping to blog………. what has happened to you? 😉
Actually – I could have used more sleep as well, drank more than I should have (on a weeknight) at bike maintenance night, and I’ve found I just don’t sleep well after drinking.

back to the car discussion – my check engine light came on yesterday, so it is a good thing I’m taking it in next week for the oil change. I hope it is just I didn’t tighten the gas cap enough, but……….

  2. Sorry. 🙁

I also slept like crap which is why I had to get the extra sleep.

Sucks about you check engine light, but at least you have a trusted mechanic to which you can take your car.

I enjoyed the game with you, Steve and the old man in front of us. I’m tired this morning too. I feel like I have a hangover and I only had two beers.

  4. Yeah, I wish there was time to pontificate about that man who sat in the row in front of us.

Note to Jenka: I’ll probably be leaving the office around 6pm today (I have a meeting scheduled until 5:30 which will probably go long.) That should put me at Midway (or Glenwood if you’d rather meet there) a little after 7pm. Does that work for you and David?

  5. Steve says:

Prior to the game yesterday, we had dinner at the now mostly famous Holy Taco. While I understand the hype, I also understand Martha’s comment of “not getting it”. What I had, 2 different tortas, as well as what I would describe as pork hush puppies were all delicious in their own porky goodness, but I don’t know if it was traditional mexican, some sort of new age carnivore, or something in between.

Paulie had a “young goat taco” and said it wasn’t baaaaaad.

Maybe I need to go back and have a margarita and try again!!

Something is going around…I slept like crap last night as well, but that’s actually pretty normal for me. I’ve been awake since about 3:30. Starting next week I get to telecommute once or twice a week that will help.

We will probably be at Midway as well tonight. Jerry asked if ‘we could be like normal folks and go out for a drink’, since it is his birthday tomorrow I said yes. Plus, no gym tomorrow, resting for Saturday’s Survival of the Fittest!! If anyone is around Woodstock, you should swing by and check it out, excluding me, there will be some amazing athletes competing.

  7. The young goat was goooooooood. I like Holy Taco because it’s a foodie’s Mexican restaurant. If I want real traditional I’ll either head to BuHi or to Mi Barrio.

Excellent Martha. It will be good to see you tonight.

  8. Oh, and I’m catching up on Top Chef as I “work” ;). My current favorite is Kelly (for probably obvious reasons), but I think Tiffany will (deservedly) win.

  9. debbie says:

Okay I’ll pontificate on him. He apparently listened to every conversation we had – thankfully they were all bland – fake boobs or real, foreign or not – since Paulie and I are people watching freaks. He wanted his seat to be 2 inches wider instead of his ass to be 2 inches smaller. And he thinks Glen Hubbard should be the new Braves manager.

I kinda agree with Matha on Holy Taco. My pork belly tortas was not as good last night, the cream corn was outstanding, the beer was cold and the bartender was cute, but otherwise so so.

  10. Barb says:

some day I’ll get to this Holy Taco place……. all this talk about Mexican food, I’m trying to decide if that is what ai want for lunch. But – I’m thinking a pizza slice……

  11. Steve says:

The corn was outstanding and I had a better chance with the bartender, if you know what I mean. 😉

The gentleman sitting in front of us must have amazing hearing (not that I’m a good judge). I had told a story of a coworker from our New Orleans branch and had used the term coon-ass, very sotto-voce’, because many people are not familiar with the term. Several innings later, the gentleman recounted our conversation and shared one of his own… maybe we were more interesting than the game.

  12. debbie says:

Oh the bartender definitely batted for my team.

  13. Barb says:

garage update – they started framing – Allan called me when he got home yesterday & says – ” Damn, this is going to be huge!” So I say – “well, it is 1000 sq. feet or so – what were you expecting?” I’m so nice……..
but- it is nice to be able to see what it is going to be someday.

  14. I know that Trey has cut ITP-Betsy’s hair, so I’m siding with Steve. If Betsy reads these comments I’m sure she can settle the score.

1000 sq feet? Crap! That’s two-thirds of the entire top floor of my house.

Now listening to “Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares” from BBC America. I love that they don’t bleep “shit” on the BBC. 🙂

  15. Martha says:

1000sq ft?? Crap, that’s bigger than my house.

  16. Barb says:

yep – and Martha – it will have a full bathroom & laundry room, it could be a whole house. but – we need a place for all those bikes, and rubbermaid bins. I can’t wait to have the basement be a basement, and someday a cool game room.

  17. Martha says:

Ugh! Anyone have a suggestion on where to get a replacement watch band (Timex Ironman), I’ve been to REI and Sports Authority, both carry the watch but not the band. I’m going to try Big Peach (since that’s where he bought it) after work.

Barb, I’m sure once the garage is finished it will be nicer than my house. BTW, Jerry treated me to having a maid come and clean the house while I was gone, I need to figure out how to work that into the budget, one time and I’m spoiled.

  18. Steve says:

I’ve gotten bands at CVS and I believe at Target. Definitely CVS.

  19. Barb says:

I got my last replacement band at Target.

  20. Martha says:

Thanks, Target was also on my list. Spoke to Alexis, she said I could order one at Big Peach…I’ll try Target first, need to run by there anyway to get a BDay card.

I’m pretty much non-functioning today…really wish I didn’t have a full day of meetings tomorrow.

  21. Jenka says:

Just now getting on here! Yes, we’ll meet you at 7-ish! Let’s do Midway (despite my earlier email) so we can meetup with Martha too. Sound good?

  22. I’ll meet you all at Midway, and if Glenwood is the desired destination we can walk over there.
