Boom Boom, Out Like A Light

I am an early riser. I used to be a later got-to-sleeper. For the majority of my adulthood I’ve not “gone to bed,” instead I’ve “fallen asleep” while doing something (reading, watching tv, listening to music, having conversations with significant others, etc). Since the installation of wireless networking in my house falling asleep happens to occur while I’m in bed.

I’m Once Again Whining About TextExpander
Another software update has been installed on my Mac and now TextExpander is refusing to expand my Snippets using Chrome. Fudge. I’ve just emailed the makers of TextExpander with a crash log so that they can get things working before I give up on them. My breaking point is nearing quickly.

Once finished with this blog I will reboot my Mac in an effort to get TextExpander to do the one thing it is supposed to do.

I love water fountains, the drinking variety. Often times when I was young these fountains were turned off and it was a great disappointment to press their buttons and receive no reward.
Water In Motion
I expected the same fate last Saturday in Oakland Cemetery when I stepped on the pedal of this drinking fountain. When I saw the water spring from its opening I immediately tried to figured out how to photograph this.

This shot, while not the greatest water fountain photo that I’ll ever take, does please me.

Return To The Fred
This week is turning into a week of drinking great beer. Last night I joined my friend Cheryl at The Porter Beer Bar in Little Five Points. Tonight I’ll be returning to The Fred in The Prado tilt a few back with my friend Stevie. The bonus attached to tonight’s drinking is that it’ll help me get closer to the 125 beer mark for my Taco Mac Passport.

And besides, good beer is good for me.

there is a bar called The Fred at the Prado? never even heard of it, but then, that area has expanded quite a bit.

  2. You were probably in Utah when I discussed The Fred before. The Fred is part of the Taco Mac chain and is located under the Taco Mac (neé Fankie’s) in The Prado. The Fred is kind of like an old speakeasy in that you pretty much have to know it’s there, know to ring the doorbell to get in, and have at least 13 beers on your Passport/Brewniversary in order to be allowed in. Oh, and The Fred serves fancy-pants beer only.

I think that is where that Irish bar used to be? Really – you can’t go in unless you are in the Taco mac club? Interesting……

To highjack the blog – if anyone wants to go road riding Friday night, Allan & I will be riding over to (& UP) Kennesaw mountain – then stopping for a few beer stops on the way home.
I’m thinking we will meet in the parking lot at Rocco’s Pub 1477 Roswell Road Marietta, GA 30062-3668 about 6pm (or my house before that if you want). So that will be the last beer stop, they have decent chili & bar food and cheap miller high life.

  4. I don’t know if that’s where the County Cork (?) was. The space is small and since they are only serving fancy-pants beer and finger food I think that they are trying to limit the number of people going there.

Weather permitting I’ll join in for the ride Friday. I need to get more mileage in so I can start shedding some weight. You all may get a chuckle out of this, but I’m trying to lose at least ten pounds before Colorado Invihash on Labor Day weekend.

  5. Steve says:

Have we heard any reports from our BRAG riders (Sal and Marty)? I mentioned that I would meet them and ride into Newnan on Friday, with a possible overnight at JEFDSDR before their final push into Fayetteville Saturday.

I like the water fountain pic. I always like the motion of water stopped with a quick shutter.

If Allan didn’t have to work Saturday, we’d come down & do that Friday ngiht & Saturday, but damn AFD just gets in the way.
I guess leave Sal a VM – that would be the best way to get in touch with her.
Today is the century that I’m sure they are riding.
Mike (Coach Cl*t) has been posting mobile upload pics on FB, but I haven’t seen any of Sal yet. (mostly scenery from each days ride)
