A Quick One

I’ve backed myself into a time corner so I have little-to-no time for the blog today.

I’m way behind schedule at work. I’m liking the work I’m doing, I just need to get it done on schedule.

Tonight I’ll be attending the performance of “Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me!” at Cobb Energy Centre

Saturday afternoon I’ll be laying the Pine Lake Hash and I fear that some of the area that I’ve chosen has been changed. Looks like I’ll need to perform a little last-minute reccying, but when? Oh, and the weather forecast is calling for cold and rain on Saturday. Niiiiiiice.

Last night I left the office “early” 6:00pm because I was tired and hungry. I went to Fox Bros BBQ, started to watch “The Year Without A Santa Claus,” fell asleep for about an hour waking at 10:20pm, watched Top Chef, and then could not get back to sleep until around 2:00am. Of course getting to sleep at that hour has made me later than usual this morning. Oh bother…

Five Of The One Hundred Simple Secrets Of Happy People
I am currently, and deliberately slowly, reading a super-easy read called The 100 Simple Secrets Of Happy People. Each morning I read three of these “secrets.” (Remember when I mentioned exercising my mind?)

Here are five “secrets” on which you can ponder

  • Root for the home team
  • Don’t confuse stuff with success
  • Every relationship is different
  • Don’t think “What if?”
  • Volunteer

You may find this hard to believe, but I’m trying to live my life under the concept that it’s the only one I’ll ever have so I better enjoy it.

This was part of a series of shots that I took for a panorama in Old Fourth Ward.
Living In High Definition
I think I like this individual frame more than the panorama.

RealiTV Update: Top Chef — Atlanta Loses Again
Like Richard Blais before him Kevin Gillespie made it to the finals for Top Chef and came in third place.

Pity.

I don’t think it’ll hurt his career too much as he was picked as the fans’ favorite and I’ve heard that Woodfire Grill is booked through mid-January.

I wish I was going to ‘Wait Wait…” tonight. I hear it is sold out. : (

  2. I’m interested to see how it plays to a (slightly) larger audience than when I was in Chicago a few years ago.

Steve, I’ll be at The Tilted Kilt at 6:00pm.

  3. Barb says:

I wonder how many of the seats they sold – that place is really big, I can’t imagine sitting up in the balcony for this show.

Have fun laying trail….. hopefully the weather will cooperate.

  4. Terri (SW) says:

Your spelling of Pine Lake Hash reminded me of the age-old debate:

Is it two words (Pine Lake) or one (Pinelake)?

I started spelling it Pine Lake a few years ago and then was corrected. Really, most people do not care, but I am always curious to hear reasons why one spelling is preferable to the other.

  5. Steve says:

Funny… I’ll be at the Tilted Kilt at 6 as well! This will make the second radio show that I really like that I’ve seen live. I’ve also seen “Says You” when it did a shows during the Sundance Film Festival.

And I’m sure anyone in the neighborhood would be welcome to join us.

  6. Thanks Barb. The weather forecast is bad, which will mean a small pack — which is with me, especially given my trail and ending. I only hope that the GA DOT has not screwed me and that I don’t get arrested, oh, and that no one gets hurt.

Terri, I always type “Pine Lake” because I understood that the name was inspired by the town/city/fiefdom of Pine Lake.

Steve. Perfect! I’ve always wanted to see “Says You” done live; I think it’d be a hoot. Yes, anyone who finds himself/herself in the neighborhood and can deal with The Tilted Kilt is welcome to join us.

  7. Barb says:

okay – I’ll ask Allan is he wants to go to the Tilted Kilt tonight.

  8. martha says:

Maybe I should send Jerry and his roommate over to Tilted Kilt so you can all watch the “majic” of these two hitting on the waitresses. Pure gold, I tell you, pure gold!

In regards to the ‘Secrets’, are you putting any of them into action? I have to say I agree with maybe 60% of them. Not everyone will work for everybody but overall I like them.

  9. Michelle says:

I was at the Tilted Kilt last week with co-workers (the only female in the group…go figure!) Maybe I’ll drop by if work isn’t too insane today.

  10. Barb says:

if Jerry & the roommate go & show us how it is done – I’m there for sure!

  11. Martha, I am taking them to heart but can’t say that the “Secrets” have made any sort of impact on my life yet.
