A Near Full Day Of Crazy-Cheap Sandwiches

Yesterday was laundry day, which of late also means that it was “crazy-cheap” sandwich day from Lee’s Bakery. However, it turned out not to be…

For lunch my lunch mates wanted to get “crazy-cheap” sandwiches from another Vietnamese restaurant. Not one to rock the lunch boat I chose to go along as well as order sandwiches for lunch (the place — whose name I cannot remember — offers more than sandwiches, but that’s what I wanted). So when dinner time rolled around I was not only not hungry for more Vietnamese sandwiches (Lee’s also provides more than Vietnamese sandwiches), I was not hungry at all! I wound up buying a roll and a couple of sweets for “dinner” as I did my laundry.

What Is It About VW?
Those who have known me for some time know that when it comes to women I have a definite “type.”

  • neatly-cut short hair
  • “girl-next-door” cuteness
  • petite
  • tattoo-free

One of the other strange coincidences that comes along with my stereotype seems to be “VW driver.” Last night as I walked around the shopping center parking lot I noticed someone who fit my description to a ‘t’ and wouldn’t you know, she wound up getting into a VW Rabbit and driving away.

Maybe I should become a VW salesman to increase the likelihood of meeting women that I find attractive.

I don’t know why I find shots like this intriguing (just look at my photostream on Flickr and you’ll see many of this ilk), but I do.

Dude, I’m Getting A Dell!
WHAT??? Mr. Mac-using, Apple-shareholder is buying a Dell computer? Weeeeeell, not exactly.

Yesterday I ordered just about everything but a computer from Dell. Using my company-supplied employee discount I ordered a new monitor, which also happens to come along with a wireless keyboard and mouse.

I need a bigger monitor than that supplied by my 13.3″ MacBook for photo editing. With Apple‘s announcement of new hardware last week I nearly broke down and bought a new iMac to replace the one which was stolen from my house in July. However, I couldn’t bring myself to invest that much in something “nice” at the moment while living in East Atlanta so I went with the cheaper monitor option instead.

Debbie’s old HS classmate Felicia came and spent the weekend with us and took some amazing pictures. (See the work on Debbies FB page) Nothing so odd as her own shoe, though.

She was unfortunately, away visiting other friends Sunday evening when one of the most amazing sunsets I have ever seen occured over JEFDSDR. I attribute sunset to some friends coming down and planting some trees in memory of my mom. Thanks mom.

I’m starting a rumor of a Fox Bros. assault for dinner this Thursday. Any takers?

  2. Well, Mr FP we seem to be on the same page as I was thinking about suggesting a “group dinner” for Thursday night as well. Count me “in.”

  3. Sal says:

Wish I could join you on Thursday. Would love to try Fox Bros.

Just found out that Sue Hintze (Can’t Say No)’s dad passed away last Thursday evening. Memorial Service this Saturday.

  4. Barb says:

No, not this Thursday for Fox Bros….. we can’t make it. oh well, next time….

BTW Steve & Debbie – is is getting to be Skyline Chili season.

Paulie – I find one thing intriguing about your “type” of woman.
    *neatly-cut short hair*
Now, if you want a girl that has this, shouldn’t you have the same?
    just asking 😉

Martha & I are going to have lunch either Thursday or Friday at your Lee’s Bakery. I’ve got to come see my Vietnamese mechanic for an oil change, so we decided to eat some Vietnamese lunch!

  5. Sal says:

    Good one Barb!!

  6. Steve says:

The other idea was next Thursday. We can be flexible…

  7. Barb says:

Next Thursday 11/5 Allan is working – he’d be mad, but he might get over it….

  8. Steve says:

You could take him a CARE package on the way home.

  9. Barb, don’t opposites attract? 😛 Besides, I’ve had neatly-cut short hair and had no success, so I’m trying the “bad boy” image.

I’m free either Thursday so you all figure it out and let me know.

  10. Barb says:

Steve – that is a fine idea, and I can always use the excuse that I spend less money when it is just me & I don’t have to pay for him!

Paulie – trust me, girls in the age bracket you “need” to be looking at aren’t looking for the “bad boys” anymore. I hate to tell you but I don’t think that strategy will work. Get your hair cut & start talking to girls you find attractive, your percentage will always be zero if you don’t talk to them.
(for anyone reading this that doesn’t already know it, I think very few guys look good with longer hair)

  11. Meh!

The real point of my story was to show my surprise that the type of woman who sports the look I like also seems to like to drive VWs. That has to be an interesting marketing angle for someone other than just me.

  12. Steve says:

Sal- Does next Thursday work better for you ? Any other takers? Speak now, or forever hold your pulled pork.
