Sleep Is For The Weak

And last night I must have been really weak since I fell asleep before 9pm.

Because my night consisted mostly of looking at the inside of my eyelids I’ll be serving up a healthy portion of leftovers instead of the planned new photograph, discussion of web development, and a recap of last night’s Top Chef Masters I had planned for today.

The Writing Process Puzzles Me
Yesterday’s “theme” started with the idea which follows, but some where between thinking of it and writing the blog it was forgotten.

Want An Easy Way To Know That I’ve Been A Single Guy For A Long Time? Read This.
Last week I was in Target and went to buy a bag of cotton balls. Mind you, this was to be only the second bag of cotton balls that I’ve purchased in my adult life, roughly twenty-six years depending on how you do the math.
Things weren’t that easy however. Since I last strolled the aisle which contains cotton balls someone has invented cotton circles as well as cotton squares! I knew what a cotton ball was all about, but I had no idea about the construction of the circles or squares. Now I had a decision to make. Minutes passed as I peered through each package attempting to weigh the pros and cons of each new geometric offering. In the end the cotton square was the winner for my particular need.
Thank Jeebus no one has though of cotton triangles yet, because that would be far too confusing to me.

This explains a lot about me, doesn’t it.

A Lot Of Late Arrivers
I like this shot because the pitcher is in focus, the third baseman is slightly out of focus, and the crowd is even more out of focus.

Hell Yeah I Updated To iPhone OS 3.0!
One thing I did manage to accomplish last night was to update my iPhone to Apple‘s new iPhone OS 3.0. While I have no plans to update my phone hardware because I don’t want to be hammered by the high cost of hardware updating when not near the end of one’s two-year contract (it seems hard to believe, but I’ve only been an iPhone carrier for fewer than seven months). It’s okay, I really love my iPhone and even though I’d enjoy having a better camera in my phone, I find that far from necessary.

I love the fact that I can now cut, copy, and paste on the phone. So many times I’ve wanted to map an address that I’ve found using a Google search. I love the fact that I can now (finally) send multi-media messages. I love the fact that I can now do a global search for items on the phone. I love the fact that I now (finally) type messages with a landscape-oriented keyboard. I love the fact that this update cost me (and everyone with an iPhone) $0.

The only real frustration that I’ve encountered thus far is finding out that Apple has (finally) included a voice-memo recording application. A few months ago I was astonished to realize this deficiency within the iPhone and purchased an application to do this (forgetting of course that I could have achieved voice memos using Evernote as well).

  1. Barb says:

Thanks for the reminder to go get my emmissions done – I’m not sure where I put that envelope with the tag info, hopefully I put it where I “should” have. My Honda is 11 years old now, I sure hope it still passes with flying colors.

  2. No problem, Barb. And now you’ve reminded me to locate that paperwork too. I *think* it’s in my briefcase, and I hope so because if it’s not there then I don’t know where I’ve put it.

  3. Martha says:

I don’t really have anything to add to today’s discussion but I really wanted to post something.

So…Paulie you missed bring a friend day at boot camp, Jerry, Wil & Harold also joined me (they all got any a$$ kicking)

  4. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

You added something, you identified me as being smarter than Harold, Wil, and Jerry.

  5. Barb says:

Paulie – I’m with ya, I was smarter too – I was still sleeping while they all got their asses kicked.

  6. Martha says:

Hey don’t forget about me, I’m just as dumb as the boys, maybe even more since I actually pay to have this done to me. :p

  7. I just thought that it was patently obvious that anyone who pays for boot camp ain’t too bright. 😛

  8. Martha says:

If only figured that out after I started boot camp, you weren’t paying attention 😉
