If This Is Tuesday It Must Be Laundry Day

Dammit! I should have done laundry yesterday but I was too lazy. It’s not like I didn’t have all day yesterday, especially since I completely forgot about the morning bike ride I had agreed to do.

Ten Years And Counting
I went to last night’s Atlanta Moonlight Hash to celebrate my ten year anniversary of hashing. As expected the trail was short (approximately two miles), relatively easy (only two small spots in which we had to get wet and dirty), and was followed by beer and pizza.

To my surprise, I was not called out for my anniversary nor for the fact that it’s been forever since I ran a Moonlight hash, even though the person who is mostly responsible for my becoming a hasher was handing out the down-downs last night.

It felt good to run a Monday night hash, although most of the faces have changed, but I don’t see myself going back often because it’s too much like running.

Thinking Of Trying A New Laundromat Tonight
If I could put off doing laundry for one more night I certainly would. Tonight I am going to try and meet up with a group for Flickrites for dinner at Waikiki Hawaiian Barbecue on Briarcliff Road near LaVista Road (where Briarcliff intersects near Whole Foods / Mellow Mushroom / Thai Chili) at 7pm.

In order to allow myself this pleasure I need to have run my laundry through the wash, if not a drier as well. To do this I need to find a new (to me) laundromat because it’s not feasible for me to drive all the way to midtown to do laundry and then return to the Emory area.

I’ve located a laundromat in Toco Hill Shopping Center (I could also visit the Toco Giant Package Store for some Fat Tire while there), but am open to suggestions as well. Anyone know of a decent laundromat near the Briarcliff / LaVista area?

Who Is It?
With the exception of running two hashes this is all I have to show for my long weekend. I learned how to make a triptych using Lightroom. Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad that I now know how to do this, it’s just that I feel like I should have been far more productive.

Look Who’s Been On Vacation From Social Networking
On Friday night I read my Twitter and Facebook updates, and then decided to take a break. I vowed not to return until today and so far have held true to that vow. At first it was difficult, much like kicking any addiction, but right now I’m okay with it all. I’ll be back, but for the time being I’m now enjoying the break.

Stats & Goals
Daily
Current Mood – okay, settling in to my new surroundings
Current Music – silence at the moment until I get motivated
Website Of The Day – Ten years known as “Wee Little Bit” you’d think that I’d have jumped on the idea of Wee Web — it’s a site for parents with little ones. I do own Wee Little Bit — not that I’ve done anything with it.
Mode Of Transportation To Work – my car
Exercise (b)Log – stair climbing, six flights of stairs

Monthly
Foot Mileage – 7 miles, Wheel Mileage – 0 miles
Consecutive Days Of Bed-Making (Longest Streak) – 16 (16)
Vegetarian Days – 1, Carnivorous Days – 25
Marta Rides – 0

May Goals
Whoops, I didn’t even consider this. Perhaps something will be here on Monday.

2009 Goals
– Reduce my weight to 190 pounds (today’s weight was 199.5 pounds)
– Completely read the book 1001 Paintings You Must See Before You Die
– Earn at least $150 through photography sales in order to cover the cost for the renewal of the Jalapeño Beach SmugMug account I opened the other day.
– Save $500 for the sole purpose of donating to charitable organizations of my choice
– Attend at least one professional photography workshop

The Unmeasurable
– Continue backing up all data, including the off-site storage
– Become a proficient programmer in Objective-C (iPhone development) and Ruby on Rails (Black Sheep web page concept)
– Do not create a solution for something which is not a problem

Cheers,
Paulie [eatl/ga]

No down-down of a bad beer – and you are disappointed?
(did you remind Sani it was your 10 year anniversary? I don’t think Monday night really keeps any records)

  2. Steve says:

It was my plan to get to the Monday hash and make sure you got your down down, but family business got in the way. Sorry.

For the fans of JEFDSDR, please know that you haven’t missed anything- the pool was too cold to get in this weekend, except for the foolish or intoxicated (or both- Hi Ray!!). The hummingbirds are back “en mass” and save a last minute change of course, Sarah would have taken one in the forehead.

I see a day of fence painting in our future- anyone have a generator? Willie?

  3. I’m disappointed since I’m an attention whore. 😉 I discussed the anniversary with Sani on Sunday at the end of Black Sheep, so she knew, which doesn’t mean that she remembered. Actually, since I only knew about half of the pack I wasn’t too sad that I missed a down-down.

Barb, did you ride yesterday? I remembered around noon.

Steve, I wasn’t surprised that you couldn’t make it as Tucker is a fer piece from Moreland. I’m hoping that the weekend chosen for the next Moreland Day Spa shindig is an open one for me. Not to toot my horn too loudly, but I’ve become an incredibly busy person — without the aid of a girlfriend I might add.

  4. Barb says:

Yes, we did ride yesterday – met at 9:30, left Riverside Park closer to 10, got done around 1:00. 41 hilly miles. And, it only sprinkled on us a little, and except for the humidity, it was a very plesant ride. Only 2 weeks until BRAG, we really need to get out & ride again tonight, but maybe rain wil give me the excuse to not ride.
We thought about going to the hash, did CMB & Trick show up? We had a few pitchers of beer & burgers after the ride, (we were starving), and that ruined the rest of the day.

Sorry to Martha for not making an appearance at her cookout – we just weren’t up for the drive.

  5. No “Check My Bags” or “I Know That Trick” sighting yesterday. I really was bummed when I realized that I missed the ride. Oh well, I probably would have been too tired to hash.

  6. bob says:

Yeah, my heart wanted to go to the hash but the body failed me :). 40 miles post ride beers makes this old dude tired. Trick ran a 10K in the morning too so neither of us could motivate the other to get out of the house. Sorry we missed it.
It was a great ride though, we had fun!

Next Sunday is the spring dress pub crawl, pick up a floral print dress and meet us out. The start is about a mile from your house.

It’s (not really) a pity that I am already committed to something else next Sunday. Besides I think that, much like my beer festival days, my dress wearing days are over. I know that you all will have fun, or at least drink enough to forget the shame that comes along with men wearing dresses, riding bikes, and going into bars.

  8. Hey Barb, did you make it to Hedon or talk to anyone who went? I heard that attendance was way down this year.

  9. Barb says:

I sure did – Cheese Spread named it – it was a “celebrity appearance”.
I was there about 5 hours.
There weren’t too many Atlanta folks, I went down to see some of my Florida friends that since I don’t travel hash much anymore, I never see them. I think Head Nurse (or Condo) said it was only around 100 people. I don’t think that # was way down, I think the past few years it was only 150 or 125 at the most. Still plenty of ugly naked & half naked people playing Izzy Dizzy. Since Doo Doo wasn’t there, he somehow got a replacement to stand in for him. Dick the Boy Wonder made this crazy margarita machine out of a garbage disposal, and I gotta say, it made some good margaritas.

  10. Oh okay. I haven’t been to Hedon in about three/four years since the year I signed up and decided not to go. I still think the first year I went (circa 2001) was the best one I attended.

Margarita machine out of a garbage disposal? Why doesn’t that surprise me? What happened to Doo Doo this year?

Oh, and I’m sure that this is extremely old news by now but I heard from Robin Red Breast last night that she’s teaming with Shappens to get InterAm in Savannah in 2011.

  11. Barb says:

Scary idea to me – InterAm in Savannah…….. (way too much work, and the hosts never get to have any fun). There was some talk about it at Hedon with a few people – most weren’t all that excited about it.

I don’t know where Doo Doo was. I guess the trail was pretty epic on Saturday, lots & lots and lots of shiggy (not shocking with the amount of rain we’ve been having). They had to go rescue some folks that didn’t know how tough the trail was going to be.

  12. I have no idea why one would want to punish themselves so. I’ve never heard about “fun times” when Atlanta hosted long before I started hashing.

There was some mention about a tough trail yesterday. Also, some people said there was no (or an an inferior) nekkid hash because the guy who used to live next to the Hedon grounds had passed away (or something along those lines — I’d been drinking). Also overheard was that there was no music this year. I remember A-hole having his iPod stolen some years back, was that the end of the Music Era?

  13. Martha says:

If any of you guys had shown up at my place yesterday you would have heard the ‘story’ behind DooDoo’s no show this year.

See what happens when you miss at party at Martha’s 😉

  14. Barb says:

Come on Martha – spill it!

Yep- no nekkid hash, and it was because the guy that had the pool died that day (and, I think the weather wasn’t that good either).

I heard music the whole time, it was on at the tiki bar, and I saw Dick had his laptop out there in the pole barn (to be stolen…..). But – maybe it wasn’t piped out to the whole camp, but I wasn’t paying attention to that.
