I’m in Denver to work our annual trade show. Life’s been on the hectic side as I prepared for this trip. And now you know about yesterday’s lack of a post.
Let me now explain why this may be the last post for this week — this fancy-pants hotel into which I have been booked charges $9.99/day for Internet access, posting from my iPhone (as I am doing now) is brutal, and finding the time to go somehere that provides a free and open pipe will be difficult.
Cheers for now,
Paulie [earl/ga]
Fancy pants hotels are the worst for charging for the internets. I tried to negotiate free internet for my folks into a contract with our conference hotel and it was an absolute no go. The meetings contractor I work with said most hotels won’t budge on those fees as it’s straight gravy for them. Makes me appreciate Hampton Inn!
Hope your show goes well!
Well, let’s see, here’s the tradeoff – if you go to a bar with free wifi and buy beers, or if you pay the $9.99 & go get a 6 pack of Fat Tire & hang in your room, which would cost you less? But you would lose out on the people watching & photo ops.
I’ll be in Denver & other parts of Colorado twice this summer, let me know if you find anything I need to see in Denver. We will be staying in the Highlands Ranch area, I bet you won’t be anywhere near there.
I’m having a hard time feeling sorry for you Paulie. Denver is my favorite city in the U.S.
I can’t recall the name right now but there is a bar about a block from Coors field that has the most incredible selection of beer I have ever seen. But then again, with all the small breweries in Colorado really good beer is NOT hard to find.
Barb, I’m staying in downtown. My Denver geography is not great, but I think Highlands Ranch is on the south side.
Bob, I’m not asking for pity just venting my frustration. Was the place to which you refer a brew pub named Wynkoop (perhaps misspelled)? That’s where I ate dinner last night, not realizing the company sales force was a floor above me having a party. Of all the places in LoDo that I could have picked…
Okay, shirts for the rest of my week are ironed. It’s time for me to rustle up breakfast and walk to the Convention Center. I’ll check in later.
No pity, I’m just Jealous. If I could drag Laura away from her family we would be living in Colorado right now.
I believe Wynkoop is the one, awesome beer selection! I believe Wynkoop is also groud zero for the Great American Beer Fest (outside of the actual festival of course).
Just found this timely article highlighted on the New York Times website. Somewhat ironic that I have to post it on yesterday’s comments area.
