Spinning, spinning, spinning. My world is spinning….
Laundromat, Oh Laundromat
Last night’s laundry outing was bittersweet. When I arrived the place was crowded and nearly all of the washing machines were in use or out of order. Because of the order in which I found free machines I had to use four different washing machines, including washing my hashing clothes in one of the largest-sized machines (and you should have seen the suds created). It was maddening and made me dream of working plumbing (don’t ask) for the first time since I started taking my clothes to that laundromat.
However, with the increase of laundry-goers was an increase of attractive young ladies. Of course my lack of confidence combined with disgusting looking poison ivy (yes, it’s still there) along the inside of my left arm kept me from chatting anyone up.
Speaking Of Poison Ivy
Eleven days after being exposed at the hash I still suffer. It’s ironic because I had considered not hashing that Sunday; I wish that I had not.
For future hashes I will be covered from shoulder-to-feet when I hash. If I continue to contract poison ivy it may cause me to retire from hashing — I cannot live like this.

Is taking a holiday today. I’ve been too busy learning, framing, coding, and doing laundry to shoot.
I’m Dreaming Of Downsizing
This Saturday there is an electronics recycling event (people give me shit for calling it an “event” but I have no better term to use) at Decatur High School. (more info)
I’ll finally be able to get rid of some of the dead electronics crap that has been boxed and ready to go. Happier days will begin Saturday.
There’s Going To Be A Hanging Tonight
After work I’ll be driving down to Bighouse Loft Gallery to have my photo hung (hanged?) for tomorrow’s Atlanta Photography Exhibit’s “Southern Fried Photographers” exhibit. As it stands now I have two candidates to hang, and no bagged work to sell.

Paulie — I am horribly allergic to PI (once got it at a hash in the middle of the winter when the stuff is mostly dead) — it gets worse with every exposure so that might be the case with you too. There are some new meds out there that you can take– I don’t have the name handy but its not the round of prednesone that they usually give you which comes with crazy side affects. You can also get a one-time prednesone shot that will clear up most of your icy. If I were you, I’d visit the local doc-in-the box and see what they can do for you. PI sucks — that’s why I voluntarily do the stroller option in the summer and let Squid enjoy the pretty foliage 🙂
Thanks Beth. Maybe I’ll try to find time to make it to a doc-in-a-box. I’m just so damn busy…
It typically takes me at least 2 months to get rid of poison ivy once it shows up — sometimes longer. Strangely enough, the rash doesn’t show up on me until a week or two after exposure, and then it becomes systemic, showing all over my body. My doc explained that my immune system has a slow response to PI for some reason. At any rate I feel your pain — I’ve got it on my forearm, calf, back and forehead right now. Luckily the patches aren’t that big…..
That sounds familiar Michelle. I have broken out behind my left knee and on my right shin even though I was wearing tights.
Hanged v. Hung
“Hanged” only applies to the method of death by hanging…
“Hung” applies to decorative/ functional objects hanging from the wall, a tree, etc…
Think of it this way:
The man was hanged (by his neck from a noose).
The man was hung (um…you get the idea ;)!).

Terri, can you help me with effect vs. affect please…and yes, i get the idea!!
SW — aren’t you supposed to be teaching something today or did you have too much wine last night 🙂
Thanks Terri. And thanks for not bringing up William Hung. Oh crap, I just did.
Martha-
Effect= noun
Affect= verb
“I am a master at special effects. Watching Star Wars as a child affected me greatly and influenced my course of study.”
Speaking of Star Wars…
SDM- movie day! Kids are doing “Star Wars and the Hero’s Journey” essays this week ;).
You may even be able to call your primary care physician and get some PI advice over the phone – would take less time than a doc-in-a-box…
