Slow News Day

I’ll be honest. Yesterday was a dull day so today’s blog post will not be groundbreaking.

Oh wait, Happy Earth Day!

The Great Frame Up, Cont. Meh
Last night I finally started assembling some of the frames, mats, and photos for Friday’s show. I will only be hanging one shot, but thanks to Hobby Lobby‘s sale I’ve been able to get enough materials to frame three. This is good since I still don’t know which one I’ll be hanging. So far my self-critical nature is making me want to not hang any at all — the shots look good, but not great.

Here are three three shots from which I am picking one:
Sun Setting Over The City
Serenity Now
Father And Son Reunion
For some reason I like the shots better on screen than framed.

R.I.P. Digger’s
A little-known fact is that when I moved to Atlanta I lived OTP. ***GASP*** Yep, for nearly two years I lived in an apartment complex called Spring Creek Crossing, later called AMLI at Spring Creek, on Roswell Road just south of Northridge (Exit 6 for you 400 commuters). I was young(ish), I didn’t know any better!

In those days I frequented a sports bar called Digger’s Sports Bar, which conveniently was one of the meeting locations of the University of Florida alumni groups for football games.

While traveling to Roswell for the Roswell Photographic Society I noticed that Digger’s has closed. A little research has shown that they closed at the end of last year. There goes another small piece of my past.

Never to be printed, but I’d definitely like to go back and eat this again.
Crazy Cheap Sandwich
This sandwich was purchased from a Vietnamese restaurant in Asian Square on Buford Highway. Did I mention that it cost me only $2?

If I remember right, that was one of the swinging singles apartment complexes back in the 90s. Great pool parties, back when the apartment complexes would provide a keg or two on some weekends.

Just think, if you still lived there, you wouldn’t be able to bitch everyday about the traffic! Digger’s used to have a trivia night where they asked hard questions, so we rarely went after we realized that we weren’t smart enough to even think about winning.

  2. It was, and in true Paulie fashion I couldn’t get a date even though I was in the best shape of my post-teenage life! I attempted taking tennis lessons to meet girls, and I was placed into the all-guy intermediate group. I tried to ask out a few girls, but they turned me down — and in one case one started dating my friend Jason who also lived in the complex. And finally, I dropped the ball with my upstairs neighbor, who I knew would put out since I heard her having sex at least once during my residence. I should have seen my dismal dating/relationship future coming, the writing was on the wall…

As for traffic I think I’d be bitching just as much. Getting to Roswell for these RPS meetings has been no pleasure.

So what do you get on a $2 sandwich?

  4. It consists of a really good, somewhat crunchy roll, carrots, cilantro, some sort of mustardy spread, and a meat which was identified as “meatloaf” although I have serious doubts.

  5. Steve says:

Vietnamese “meatloaf”?? You are a brave man Paulie.

I like the skyline and the flowers… the lake (beach? toxic pool?) not so much 😉
