People are late for the 7:00am Ruby on Rails learning session, so I’m using my time wisely by writing some of today’s blog.
My Thumb, One Year Later
It has just dawned on my the it’s been a year since I inadvertently sliced off the top of my thumb. What’s strange is that it dawned on my because I accidentally bumped the tip of my thumb and it still hurt and I thought “Man, it’s been nearly a year and it still hurts?!”
Another Night Of Nothing
Has anyone else noticed that it’s fucking cold in Atlanta right now? Because of this I hung around the office until about 6:30pm, headed over to Circuit City to see that what I am considering buying is still only discounted 15% — making it $30 more than Amazon, before heading home for warmth and comfort of my bed. Don’t hate, I’m living the dream… (okay, not really but the “dream” but I’m just hoping that things don’t turn further into the “nightmare” any time soon.)

Sadly I have no new material. Cold nights which get dark early are not lending themselves to creativity and outside shooting. Sure, I have the means for studio shots at home, but for some reason I’m not thrilled about spending time at home.
That is a shot from Fort Mountain State Park taken a few weeks ago.
Still Banging My Head Against The Desk
There are many times I wish I had all of the time and energy that I had back in college. Over the past two weeks I’ve been trying to learn Ruby On Rails in an effort to retool myself. Having a programming background learning the language behind Ruby On Rails — that being Ruby — has been somewhat easy, but picking up the technologies that I’ve never used before has been much harder.
I never wanted to be a dinosaur, but that’s exactly what has happened to me in the nine years that I have been in management. Stupid Paulie. Very stupid.
Happy Birthday Betsy!
My friend, and ITP-reader, Betsy is celebrating a birthday today. It’s one of those “big” days in a person’s life, if you want to find out what that means you can either buy here a beverage at George’s Bar tonight, or try and figure out what she has planned for Saturday night.
And now for some ideas stolen from LiveJournal…

The Amazon deal-of-the-day is for the college hoodies. I think they should let you customize which school is displayed. I’m just sayin’.
The Thumb Incident was a year ago?!
Happy Birthday Betsy!
I have a Florida hoodie that I’ve yet to break out of the packaging. It’s not like it’s not cold or anything, I wonder why I am waiting… Showing Texas Tech makes sense since they are ranked higher than they have been in years, so there’s a lot of sales potential there.
Yep, it was the Friday night before Betsy’s birthday trail last year. For anyone who is new to the ITP world you should check out this post.
You want f-in’ freezing?
I tried to install one of those programmable thermostats yesterday. You know, the kind that cycle temp up and down based on the hours you set so that you’re not heating the house when no one’s home?
So why doesn’t it blow hot air anymore? This may be grounds for divorce in Georgia…
now the deal it is cordless power scissors – something about that just doesn’t sound right.
Yeah, Barb, but can you imagine what those could do to a pizza? I’d love to take them to a pizza.
(yeah, you know, it wasn’t until really recently that I’ve seen folks cut pizza with scissors. I always had the little circle-cutter-rolling-thing.)
Re: Twitter — whatcha puttin’ in your stew?

That’s the current Lightning Deal…. Do we now know what Allan is getting for Christmas? 🙂
I’ll be experimenting on my coworkers. 😉
– mixed beans (the beans from the mixed bean soup mix)
– frozen mixed veg (carrot, pea, corn)
– frozen onion
– frozen mushroom
– frozen potato (the hash brown cubes)
– celery
– garlic
– spices (basil, bay leaf)
– V8
– apple juice
– water
put them all into a crock pot and cook until done (probably seven hours)
There will be ample pictures and a review of my work in Friday’s blog
Nice photo. You didn’t add the leaves this time, did you? 😉
Well played, Brenan. This was shot before I altered the scene of the crime.
Allan is getting all new windows in the house for Chirstmas. (and so am I for that matter). Windows are way too expensive, especially when you buy the good ones with the lifetime warranty, etc., etc., so we will be being poor for the next few months.
But don’t worry, we will still splurge for hockey tickets on 11/30…. have we gotten up to 10 people yet? Maybe you can see if you can get some volunteers (with money) at George’s tonight.
