Rebuilding Is Hard To Do

And I’m just talking about reinstalling software on my laptop after moving from OS X 10.4 (aka “Tiger”) to OS X 10.5 (aka “Leopard”).

Instructions I Can Follow
Yesterday I had a good chuckle at the gas pump. Laughs at the pump had become few and far between due to soaring prices, but this would have made me laugh at any price.

Pump Operation
1. Follow Instructions on Screen

See how easy it is to operate the pump? There is only one step!

So I ask, “Why bother numbering the steps if there is only one step?”

Who Took My Left Of Center?
For as long as I can remember Sirius 26 was called “Left of Center.” Today when I turned the channel on I was confused. It seems as if “Left of Center” no longer has the proper impact. Perhaps they just wanted to change the name a bit, or perhaps a change is afoot due to the Sirius/XM merger, but my beloved Sirius 26 — “Left of Center” is now known as Sirius 26 — “XM U.”

For what it’s worth they still seem to play the same style of music at least.

I still need to shoot more!

No Geekery Last Night, But I Am Going To Try Tonight
I arrived late to the neighborhood in which The Bureau exists in part due to delays caused by software installation and in part due to transposing the bar’s address.

AND GODDAMMIT I WANT MORE BUSINESSES TO INSTALL ADDRESS NUMBERS WHICH ARE CLEARLY VISIBLE TO PEOPLE TRAVELING IN CARS! YOU DO WANT US TO BE ABLE TO FIND YOU, RIGHT?

Sorry, that’s really been nagging me lately.

When I arrived to that part of Edgewood, nary two blocks east of The Connector, there was but one parking space to be had and I lost it while I circled the block to return for it. As I circled the block I noticed very dark streets on which, dare I profile, suspicious individuals wandered. Having been carjacked (at home, I know) and knowing the value of the contents of my trunk last night, I chose not to take chances and headed home.

I hope fate smiles on me a tonight as I am going to attempt to hook up with the Atlanta Ruby Users Group to enhance my exposure to the Ruby language. Am I a nerd? You betcha fucking ass I am!

I’m with you on the addresses being posted somewhere to be seen from the street. I’ve started looking up other establishments I know in the area, & trying to figure out where they are in comparison, so I don’t have to drive in circles.

On a totally different subject – Jackass got a chinese menu from his parents (that are living in China right now) and he is going to take it to Tasty China to see if they can make him some dish that he really liked when he was over there. Should be an interesting evening some time soon…..

  2. Ha, I’d like to be a fly on the wall when Jackass does that. 🙂

  3. Barb says:

I’ll let you know when we decide on a night, you can join us too…… supposedly our favorite surly waitress told him to bring her a menu.

  4. Bob says:

On the other side of the satellite radio fence my favorite XM channel 48 Squizz has turned into Octane. I hope they play the same music.

  5. Martha says:

Wish I had known, I would have told you that we were running last night.

Great news, we have a new member for Monday nights, Sandra (aka Slopes) is joining us now. She realized last week that she likes to run with other people.

2 on the whole street number issue. I’ve been out to Buckhead a couple of times in the last two weeks, I’ve been giving myself an extra 15 minutes or so because I can never find the place I’m looking for.

  6. I most likely still wouldn’t have run as I had to get some laundry done.

The only thing more frustrating than no numbers are numbers that don’t correspond to street numbers… see also Peachtree St adresses.

  7. Barb says:

yeah – why is it in Atlanta that the street address of 1115 Peachtree wouldn’t be between 11th & 12th street. That has NEVER made any sense to me.
There has to be some crazy explanation, but since I was raised in a city that was built on a grid, it has always confused me.

  8. Steve says:

Well, I’m sitting in 1000 Peachtree and it’s at the corner ot 10th and Peachtree- exactly where it should be.- but I do know that is more rare than it should be.
