My five-mile jaunt last night was marred by an inability to do it at a satisfying pace. I can’t figure out where the nine-minute-mile pace has gone. Last night I couldn’t even break the ten-minute-mile pace.
Read Along With Me
Today’s passage from Notes To Myself.
I find it almost impossible to make a strong declarative statement in conversation without feeling little nagging doubts and reservations.
To all who have helped me — Thanks.
Steak… It’s What Was For Dinner
I love steak, but I rarely make steak for myself. Last week while touring around Kroger I picked up a cheap cut of meat (a flank steak) with the notion of trying my hand at steak preparation. Last night was in an experimental mood and with no Chef Ramsay around to bitch me out if I fucked it up I gave it a go.
Along with my steak I boiled up some potatoes. Steak and potatoes…. The All-American Dinner! All I needed was a glass of milk and a piece of apple pie to make me feel great as an American and not pissed that I paid a whole shitload in taxes last month.
With My 20% Off Coupon
I am glad I waited (read “procrastinated”) to pick up a new pair of hiking boots from REI. In yesterday’s mail there was an sale announcement from REI which contained a 20% off coupon. I’ll be swinging by there tomorrow to pick up some new boots.
If anyone I know in real life has a coupon to spare I might also want to purchase a second bike tray for the Jackmobile. You know how to contact me….

The other night I went to The EARL to see Destroyer. This is Destroyer’s drummer.
Shooting that night was difficult because the lighting at The EARL is not that bright. I had to bump the D300’s ISO to 2000(!) in order to get anything that wasn’t pitch black.
More Music Tonight? Perhaps
Depending on my mood I may be headed to The EARL tonight to see American Music Club. My old friend Mike was supposed to come up to Atlanta for the show, but he’s not contacted me so I don’t know if he is or not. I’ll probably go up for the show regardless in order to get more camera time in.
RealiTV Update: Top Chef
Ah the children they are the future, aren’t they? On last night’s Top Chef we were treated to a night of cheap cooking and children.
It was Antonia’s night to shine as she came out as a single-parent MILF thus giving her the upper hand on making mac-n-cheese a la Antonia. Actually she made made a rice salad using the evening’s pimped product Uncle Ben’s Converted Rice “when you can’t manage to find twenty-four minutes” to make regular long-grain rice. The guest chef/judge was Oprah’s personal chef — I guess we were to believe that Oprah eats Uncle Ben’s.
For the Elimination Challenge the chefs where handicapped with “helpers” as they prepared a healthy family-meal for four for under $10. I would have delivered a six pack of beer and called it a day, but the chefs took the challenge more seriously. The cream rose to the top as Antonia won (nothing btw) even though she had immunity for winning the 15-minute battle earlier in the show.
For his failed attempt to make a healthy vegetarian curry Marky-Mark was told to pack up his didgeridoo and go.
And now for some ideas stolen from LiveJournal…

I missed out on reporting yesterday that I also had a perfect record for bed making in April. Woot.
Up for a group dinner at Taverna Plaka any time. They have most excellent martinis.
Okay, now that I’m caught up… that drummer scares me.
Who’s bike will be in that second tray? Have you been holding out on me? lol!!!
I haven’t seen a coupon yet…not sure if there is anything I ‘need’ from REI, if not it is yours.
Bravo to you!
We can discuss Taverna Plaka when I’m down on the farm this weekend.
What’s funny about the drummer photo was that I slowed the shutter speed in order to capture the motion of his arms. Instead, I wound up turning out to be one of the sharpest facial photos of the evening. LOL!
I’m trying to be optimistic by putting a second tray on the car. I may use it as a marketing tool by putting a sign on it that says
“Hey Ladies, Your Bike Can Be Here! Inquire Within.”
LOL!
You didn’t get a sales flier? Check your mail today. No biggie if you want to use it for yourself you selfish b………. 😛
I’ll check my mail for the REI flyer, we RARELY go shop there, it really isn’t convenient at all from Marietta. If we have it, I’ll bring it to the farm.
And, before you purchase, ask Allan about the tray you need, you never know with him (or his many biking friends that have WAY TOO MANY bike pieces, parts, etc.) You might be able to get a deal.
I know the tray I want, I *think* it’s called the Yakima Viper (I’ll have to double-check).
The REI near Perimeter Mall isn’t convenient? It’s perfect for me since I can actually walk to it from my office.
Speaking of Allan. My buddy Phillip posted a photo of the doors at Station 7 the other day. As I looked at the photo I kept thinking “man, why didn’t I take more photos while I was inside!?”
You can always go back to Station 7 anytime, Allan is there friday, monday, thursday, sunday, etc. (in case you didn’t get the pattern, every third day). Just call him, they don’t mind guests at all. Send me the link, I’d like to see the pictures.
I’d like go to back one day. We can discuss some time.
Phillip just has the one shot from the outside here

I love the comments on this picture – need a signed, notorized validation that the picture was taken in Atlanta….. that seems silly.
Barb: REI is opening their new store on Barrett Parkway this week-end. Going there tonight for the special sneak preview.
Oh yeah – right next to Total Wine. That parking lot is going ot be a mess forever, it was bad before REI decided to move in there.
Find me some deals! I’m going to Wild Wing tonight for some beers and wings.
If you haven’t already gone to REI, I’m not sure you’ll be able to use two coupons. We went to the new Kennesaw store today and had forgotten ours. When we went to purchase something the cashier just pulled up the membership and logged the 20% off. It just made me think that once you’ve used the 20% on an item that they have record and might well know if you try to use a second voucher.
We went to try to get hubby a wicking shirt, what did we leave with? … a kid’s sippy cup! (albeit a rather cool aluminium one with aeroplanes on it!)
Hmmm, that’s a good point Kay. I’ll be swinging by a REI tomorrow. I’ll have to see if I even make it back before the 11th in order to try a second coupon.
