Humberto and a bunch of ineffective planning have come in and altered my weekend plans. Tonight I was to head up to Lake Hartwell for a weekend of drinking, laughs, and camping. With a forecast of 100% chance of rain and the knowledge that I am nowhere near prepared to travel, I have decided to stay in the hood tonight and reconsider my options tomorrow morning.
Traffic Can Be So Finicky
I had to work later than normal last night since I had arrived later than normal. With the remnants of Humberto moving through I knew that leaving at 5pm wouldn’t be smart anyway. My journey home was fine until I hit the Lenox Mall area. At that point everything came a halt. Figuring that sitting in traffic would only serve to annoy me I turned the car around and headed to the mall for some dinner (Chinese). The plan was also to walk off dinner but I was in no mood to be in the traffic that was Lenox Mall shoppers either. I thought about doing a little websurfing via my BlackJack, but of course AT&T’s coverage is shit there and couldn’t get anywhere. Upon leaving the mall thirty minutes after arriving things were not great, but at least they were much better than when I had arrived.
Getting home around 7:30pm – 8pm really screws with my sense of time however. I kept thinking that it was much earlier than it really was.
ITP Flickr Pic
Flickr is full of cat pictures so I figured one more wouldn’t hurt
This little guy (girl?) was out on its normal afternoon walk when it happened upon a guy with a strange apparatus in his hand (that would be me and my camera).
And One More Thing
I have taken an unspoken vow to improve my posts starting next week. Having said that, the next month of my life is going to be very hectic, so things will be far from perfect.
And now for some ideas stolen from LiveJournal…
Current Mood – depressed
Current Music – Sirius Satellite Radio, Channel 26 playing Morrissey — “In The Future When All’s Well” (wow, I just realized that I am less optimistic than Morrissey
Website Of The Day – At least it looks like the weather will be perfect for those attending the East Atlanta Strut.
Exercise (b)Log – nothing
Monthly Mileage – 6.5 miles
Mode Of Transportation To Work – My car
September Goals
1) Get my first Ruby / Ruby on Rails program written
2) Lose 5 pounds (if at first, second, third, fourth, you don’t succeed….)
3) Take now fewer than three photos a day
4) Listen to (and review) one CD a day in September
Cheers,
Paulie [eatl/ga]
I’m with you on the Hartwell departure tonight… rain, not good for camping, plus I’ve got all the sh*t in the back of the truck for cooking tomorrow nite!! Aaargh! Nothing has been simple or straight forward this year with this trip. It truly has sucked. Remember that the hash is starting around 12, so leave accordingly!
I couldn’t stand to do your commute. I went to Samsclub at 5 yesterday to get supplies for Sat. and it “only” took me 35 minutes to get home… if my commute were more than 4.2 miles/10 minutes to work, I would have moved from ATL long ago… I really can’t even stand that one sometimes either!
You guys are making me re-think leaving this afternoon for the lake. I guess I need to spend some time looking at the radar websites.
What do you mean, improve your posts? I rather like your posts!
(p.s. like the little Met dude down there now) 🙂
Barb, the forecast is for 100% chance of rain. Of course they could be wrong…
Gentri, thanks for the early-start reminder. I *should* be up there much earlier, but one never knows.
Stacy, I feel my posts have been lacking lately. I strive to be better.
I may actually go up tonight and just sleep in the truck. I’ve got to get the cajun microwave up and running before I go hashing… nothing says “we will kill you slowly” like 50 hashers made sick from raw pork! and this year I’ve got poultry too! …. so much for relaxing……….
Gather is 11:30, 11:30 depart in cars for start, FYI!
Weather update, chance of rain now at 70%. I still won’t be ready to drive up tonight however.
