Remember a long time ago I blogged about how badly my windshield wipers performed? Well, with Drought ’07 strangling Atlanta there seemed little reason to replace them. That was until last night when I could barely see through the windshield to drive. To my delight the wipers were replaced after a few minutes of trial and error.
I was not as fortunate with the bike rack. It seems that Yakima has “improved” their equipment since I first re-affixed the bike rack to the Jackmobile. After futzing around with the rack for a little while I threw my hands up and declared the project “for another night.” I am trying to return to the mindset that a job not worth doing right is a job not worth doing. So in that vain I couldn’t possibly continue, so I didn’t.
A Job Well Done Sometimes Take Three Hours However
< begin nerd alert >
I am dead serious about learning Ruby and Ruby On Rails. To make my learning efforts more portable I cleared off space on the once-massive 30GB hard drive in my iBook so that I could install the software necessary. Once enough space was reclaimed I performed the tasks of downloading and compiling — which took about three hours on this old machine. I am happy to announce that all is up and running correctly.

The Assimilation is complete (at least in my world).
When I activated my cellphone yesterday I noticed the difference immediately. Where once the word “Cingular” sat proudly, now sits “AT&T”.
Tonight I Am Hoping For Curtains Up Before The Lights Go Out
Where does the time go? It seems like just yesterday, but in reality it was a month ago, that I was thinking about going to see “Charm School” at the Horizon Theatre. And now the play is scheduled to end its run this Saturday. With plans already in place for tomorrow and Saturday nights that leaves tonight and Friday night. Tonight I am going to see if I can wedge in using one of my season tickets. Hopefully this being Wednesday that shouldn’t be out of the question.
And now for some ideas stolen from LiveJournal…
Current Mood – Wishing that I had someone who would let me put peanut butter in their chocolate. Okay, I have no idea what that means, but it sounds dirty.
Current Music – Sirius Satellite Radio, Channel 26 playing Great Lake Swimmers — “Your Rocky Spine” (a band that I should have seen in concert a few weeks back, but I flaked on seeing)
Website Of The Day – Travel season is knocking on the door (Summer starts in a few days, you know). I’ve found that Johnny Jet (probably not his given name) has a travel website worth visiting.
Exercise (b)Log – nothing
Mode Of Transportation To Work – My car
June Goals
1) Lose five pounds. (starting weight 200+ lbs)

Depending on how bad you want the rack installed, blow off your dinner plans & come to maintenence night Thursday. (I’m just picking on you, ya gotta hate those nights when there is more than one thing to do)
I hate having more than one option, but it beats having no options.
I can get the rack put on soon enough. I just need to settle down, get everything measured, then lock it to the roof. My only fear is that the damage I did to the car’s trim might make life a little more difficult than it did the first two times I attached a rack to Jackmobile.
HEY NOW! Don’t you be encouraging him to blow off his dinner plans, Barb. I don’t cook THAT poorly!
In fact, I’ve just had a cancellation…you’re welcomed to join too if you want! 🙂
First off, there is no reason for me to cancel. Secondly, while I may not make ideal “boyfriend/husband” material I am nothing if not a stand-up guy. When I make commitments I follow through on them.
Stacy, I will be there — on that you can count.
This is very true about you: Phil and I have both commented that you’re one of our only friends who never seem to cancel last minute on us. 🙂 Well, without good reason anyway. (and, no, that’s not meant to be a guilt trip if you decide to listen to Barb last minute!)
But you’re wrong – you are NOT a stand-up guy…as in, you don’t stand up folks. 🙂
Stacy – I wasn’t trying to get him to blow off your dinner plans, I was just picking on him. I’m sure your dinner will be wonderful. If I hadn’t made the plan to meet up with Jack*ass & Well Hung about Wheelhopper stuff (at maintenence night – multi-tasking ITP), I might consider it.
What I meant about the rack was bring the car & rack to maintenence night, & get someone “that knows, or think they know” how to do it, help you with it.
Ah, shoot, I knew Barb — I was just teasin! 🙂 And was also serious if you hadn’t had plans.
