No Meat? Low Carb? Really?

Out of the blue I received a dinner invitation from my friends Stacy and Phil. Dinner consisted of a meat-free, low-carb lasagna which was quite tasty. Although I am certain that it would have tasted much better with them. πŸ˜› We sat outside and consumed wine with dinner as we basked in the beautiful weather that is April in Atlanta (or Clarkston as the case was last night).

Call For Mac Tech Help
Is anyone out there an OS X guru? Here’s the strange thing that has happened to me more than once so I am sure that it’s a “feature” and not a “bug”.

On an external LaCie USB hard drive I create a new folder and rename it to “Folder #1”. I then attempt to create another new folder and rename it “Folder #2”, but it’s name gets immediately changed to “Folder #1” and then stacked on the first. Any folders I attempt to create named “Folder #whatever” also get renamed and stacked.

WTF? If I wanted them all to have the same name, I would have typed it multiple times. In fact, why is it even possible to have folders with the same name inside a folder?

This behavior is completely destroying my new photography post-process workflow.

Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? If you can tell me what is going on, or point me at a link which explains this I’d certainly appreciate it.

ITP Flickr Pic
Here is one shot of the house we rented last weekend. Not too shabby, huh?

Not A Bad Vacation House... If You Can Afford It

btw- the only thing in this picture that the people didn’t own was my tripod which I forgot to remove before taking the picture.

I’ll have more pictures up on Flickr when I become more of a Lightroom Ninja and learn the ins-and-outs of editing and exporting photos.

Stuffing My Face For A Good Cause
Tonight I’ll be shoveling food into my piehole and not caring because 20% of my bill will be donated to Project Open Hand. Tonight is another Dining Out For Life night and many Atlanta restaurants are participating (click that link to find out which are).

Sounds like a great idea, doesn’t it? Go out and treat yourself to a restaurant meal tonight… you deserve it!

I’ll be eating at the Vickery’s in Midtown (I’d have chosen the one in Glenwood Park if I was the organizer) with some of my Flickr friends.

Walking Lighlty
You may notice that my “Walk In My Footsteps” section is really short right now. It’s not that I am failing to update it, but rather there is not a whole lot going on that I wish to attend. If you have entertainment suggestions, feel free to post them in a comment.

And now for some ideas stolen from LiveJournal…

Current Music – Sirius Satellite Radio, Channel 26 playing Sufjan Stevens — “Chicago”

I’m glad you were able to join us. πŸ™‚

  2. Stacy says:

See? No meat and low carb CAN be good! Though I actually do prefer the ALL meat, NO carb meals! πŸ™‚

    (Mmmmm ribs….with a side order of bacon…. smothered in cheese….bleu cheese….ohhhh yeahhhhhhh.)

Okay, when we doin’ Fat Matt’s? I’ve never been and since your BBQ talk last night I be cravin’ the rib now!

  3. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

I’m down with Fat Matt’s on any night we are both free.

  4. Barb says:

Yummy, Vickery’s, get those carbs you missed last night & have the mac n cheese side dish.

  5. Stacy says:

psst… you do mean if you were the organizer, right?

    πŸ™‚

Yes, now I’m just being a little shit because I don’t feel like working today.

  6. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

Meh! If I was a rich man I’d change that stoopid rule. πŸ˜›

  7. Stacy says:

You’re evil. That was just painful.

  8. Steve says:

Lovely shot- even with the tripod. Sounds like a fun time from the group you described yesterday.

As to your OSX questions… Are you sure the folders are renamed and not just stacked and obscuring the new folders? To correct the stacking problem, try opening a Terminal, cd’ing to that drive/folder and removing the .DS_Store file (rm -f .DS_Store). If you can’t remove it try ‘sudo rm -f .DS_Store’. That file contains all of the folder view settings and may be corrupt. Drives are mounted under /Volumes so you’ll need to ‘cd /Volumes/Drive???/’.

  10. Maybe OS X doesn’t like the “#” in a folder name?

BTW, what prevents the latest Mac OS that runs on Intel chips from running on regular ass PCs? Since Vista is an even bigger piece of shit than normal for Microsloth, when I upgrade my computer in a year, I would like to switch. But I don’t want to pay twice as much for Mac hardware.

  11. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

I don’t really know, Smoove D. I am sure that there is something with Mac hardware that OS X seeks, but don’t have a clue as to what it is.
