Two For Tuesday!

2007’s Tally: University of Florida 2, Ohio State University 0
Woo Fucking Hoo!!!

Congratulations to the Gator Men’s Basketball program for repeating as National Champions!

Ain’t That A Kick In The Pants?
Wouldn’t you know. Yesterday in the mail I received a flyer from Curry Honda which contained a coupon for a Honda car battery for $60. Sonnabitch!

On Second Thought, No Thanks
While scanning for concerts on Pollstar I was reminded that both Modest Mouse and Arcade Fire are coming to Atlanta in May.

While I’d certainly like to see each, I am am balking at the ticket prices. The Modest Mouse show is $30 and the Arcade Fire show is $32 (before TicketBastard charges!).

I’m sorry. I really enjoy the music from each of these bands, but not nearly enough to pay that kind of money to see them in concert.

Two shots today. They are similar in nature, taken about a month apart.

Now With More Color!

Same result completed a short time apart? Sounds like the end of the seasons for Florida’s football and basketball teams…

Amazing Race, Amazing Race
We were treated to back-to-back episodes of the Amazing Race on Sunday however only one team was eliminated.

I am really wondering about the wisdom of the people who organized this season.
There have been a few decisions made which have really helped or hindered teams much more than I remember from the past (remember, I have only been watching for about three seasons).

At the end of the first episode on Sunday through the complication of booking flights the blondes finished first and the guidos were in last. In fact, the blondes and one othe team started the next leg before the guidos arrived at the end of the first leg shown that night. The guidos were fortunate because they were not eliminated, however so much time had transpired between them and the leaders that they might of well have been.

As you can imagine Mirna and Charla aggravated every last nerve in my body and once again somehow managed not to get eliminated.

This is where I admit another of my character flaws. There was a scene where Charla (the midget) had to dress in a full set of knight’s armor and lead a horse. At one point she gets tugged by the horse and falls flat on her face. I think that I rewound that scene and watched no fewer than four times — each time laughing as loudly as the last.

During the second episode three teams (the blondes, Joyce & Uchenna, team cha-cha) were far-and-away ahead of the three back three (dick & bitch, the guidos, the team I hate) when they encountered an Intersection forcing them to work with another team. Because of the large time differential between the Haves and the Have-Nots this really hampered the progress of the third team to arrive at the Intersection (the blondes). (As a side note, put twenty-four inches of German sausage in front of me and I’ll do some major damage on it.) Furthermore this Intersection also had a Fast Forward attached to it, allowing the first two teams to increase their lead by that much more. Strange and somewhat unfair in my eyes.

At the end of the second episode Joyce & Uchenna finished in a tie with Danny & Oswald (no duh, they had a Fast Forward at the Intersection). Danny & Oswald played a nice strategy card by allowing Joyce & Uchenna to have the prize for coming in first place. The guidos finished in next-to-last place, but not soon enough to overcome the thirty-minute penalty they had been assessed from the previous leg.

Not All Things Done Twice Are So Nice
Because of my AAA membership card fiasco last week I decided to do a little Spring cleaning of my membership card stack during my lunch break yesterday. What I noticed while doing this was that my High Museum card had expired and all indications from my accounting indicated that I had not renewed it. No problem, I surf on over to the High’s website and renewed my membership.

When I arrived home last night I saw my new membership card on my computer desk.

Today I am going to make an attempt to rectify this error. Tonight I will start the process of eliminating these mistakes from happening again.

CD Pick Of The Week
I wish that I had a double-album to recommend this week, but I do not. Instead, I will keep today’s theme alive by recommending the second, second full-length release (which makes this the third release for you math majors) from the band Kings Of Leon. “Because Of The Times” is getting favorable reviews from the critics. I’ve only heard one or two of the songs, but that’s enough for me to recommend this release.

And now for some ideas stolen from LiveJournal…
Current Mood – wishing I had been in the Georgia Dome last night
Current Music – Sirius Satellite Radio, Channel 26 playing The Libertines — “Can’t Stand Me Now”
Website Of The Day – Who knew that there was such a thing as a National Champion tree? The folks at American Forest did, that’s who. Guaranteed no University of Florida sports talk at this site. 🙂
Exercise (b)Log – 20 pushups, 50 situps

Cheers!

    The GATORS!! 🙂

$30 for Modest Mouse sounds cheap to me, but I guess I’m used to paying like $60 for stadium tickets for shows…

Yeah, I’m just not excited about the Race anymore. I don’t care who wins, ’cause I don’t like any of the teams. M&C drive me ape sh*t, too. If I had to choose, I want cha-cha-cha to win.

Sucks about the car battery thing. I hate when stuff like that happens. 🙁

Oh, and your pictures are cool. 🙂

I saw Modest Mouse at the Fox a few years ago. They put on a good show, but not one good enough for me to shell out $30.

The pictures look so cool placed together like this. Still both as creepy as hell, but wicked cool.

Congrats to all you Gator fans… it was a lot better of a game than I was expecting.

I first thought that the pictures were the statue in Piedmont Park, but I decided not. Where, pray tell?

And am I the first person to notice the picture from Cheddarhead in the Loafing this week? Clearly visible are Sani, EM, Fill My Cavity and several others…

Piedmont Park indeed. It’s a statue called “The Last Meter” located near the 14th Street entrance.

I’ve not heard anyone else mention the CL pictures. In which issue did you see this?
