There Are Not Enough Hours In My Day!

Wake up.
Go to work.
Drive home.
Stop for things needed for house.
Cook.
Eat.
Do dishes.
Do two loads of laundry.
Watch Amazing Race.

Even when multitasking some of the above there was still not enough time to get everything I wanted to do done. I need to figure out how to make more with less.

No Stopping This Controversy
Have you ever traveled to East Atlanta by taking a left from Moreland Avenue and gone around the “Welcome To East Atlanta” sign? You know that stop sign at Flat Shoals that was not relative to you if you turning right? You better pay more attention now.

As of yesterday the intersection of Flat Shoals and McPherson was turned into a four-way stop intersection. Ugh, the Traffic Terrorists have won again. This is my opinion of course because I travel along Flat Shoals, and not on McPherson where residents in that part of East Atlanta are pleased because they say that they were kept out traffic flow at that intersection.

My fear is that with each car coming to a complete stop, and then waiting for any other car to clear the intersection that twenty yard section of McPherson between Moreland Ave and Flat Shoals Avenue is going to become a traffic snarl.

Because I live in an old neighborhood and not a modern-day subdivision which has one entrance for a community of hundreds of houses, the net effect of this will probably lead to a change of my path of travel. As another East Atlantan has mentioned in the email fury that has occurred over the last twenty-four hours, I too will make fewer trips through the East Atlanta Village. Fewer trips through the Village will mean fewer stops at the businesses within.

Look Maw, No Cavities!

I love this shot, but once again it has had little traffic over at Flickr. Huh, I will never figure people out.

Midget And Smidget Are Completely Annoying
One of the things I did manage to accomplish last night was watching Amazing Race. Holy crap the midget and her partner are the most high-strung, annoying, psychotic contestants I have ever seen. I understand the midget having the short temper but…. (Hay Ohhhh!!!) It was shown in the previous season of Amazing Race that it takes a lot to piss off Mary and Dave, and yet Midget and Smidget managed to do that as well.

I was glad to see the annoying New Yorkers (I am one too) get booted from the show. I don’t know how much of more of them I could have handled.

And now for some ideas stolen from LiveJournal…
Current Mood – bothered
Current Music – Sirius Satellite Radio, Channel 26 playing The Flaming Lips — “She Don’t Use Jelly” (which is now a purchased song on my iPod as well)
Website Of The Day – Since I did nothing but make fun of Charla from Amazing Race, I will provide “fair and balanced” blogging by making today’s website The Official Website Of The Little People Of America. (ppst, Stacey you should check it out)
Exercise (b)Log – none

February Goals
1) Lose two pounds. (starting weight ~205 lbs)
2) Run no fewer than fifty miles.
3) Do twenty push-ups and fifty sit-ups at least three times a week.
4) Read two books.
5) Go to the Center For Puppetry Arts.
6) Use Marta for commuting at least one day per week.
7) Get all 2007 information into Google Calendar.

Cheers,
Paulie [eatl/ga]

Ugh…welcome to the modern world. It seems like seems like between work, exercise, and ‘picking up something for dinner’ I’m gone 12 hours a day. I’ve felt so bad Ruben has started Day Care (not everyday mind you $100 a week is crazy even by my standards).

I took off yesterday afternoon for a doctor’s appointment, after making a few quick stops I still didn’t get home until almost 5? I can’t even imagine what it would be like if I had kids to take care of also.

  2. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

Very true. I always feel badly because I am trying to exercise (body willing) and read, but it never seems to be the “right time” for these when scant free time occurs. Admittedly I spend too much time on the internet, but that’s always a nice short-attention-span thing to do while doing other chores around the house.

  3. Barb says:

oh how I wanted Mirna & Smirna gone, though team Guido losing didn’t bother me at all. Did they ever say if the one dude was truly sick, and maybe he shouldn’t have even attempted this race? I’m wondering if he has/had cancer or something….. but, did you watch the family Amazing Race a few years back? The holy roller teenagers/family were worse if you can believe it.
And – I can’t get much of anything done at the house even with a 5 minute commute, so what is my excuse?

  4. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

I’ve always hated “Family Editions” of any tv show so I tuned out quickly on that season of Amazing Race.

  5. Gentri says:

    This why I don’t get anything done…

…or it might just be a lack of drive and motivation and lists… yeah, that’s the ticket!

  6. Beth says:

And have you noticed that they took out the turn lane off Moreland to Freedom Parkway (right before North Ave)? Why? Who decides these things?

Having a child makes it nearly impossible to get anything done at home but now we have someone to blame the mess on. When the house gets REALLY dirty we spread toys all over the living room so you can’t see the dirt 🙂

  7. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

@Beth: I’ve noticed that one too. I’ve been meaning to gripe about it, but have forgotten to. It’s obvious to me that the people who make these decisions never drive in these areas.

  8. Gentri says:

It’s because idiots trying to turn often block the whole road and access to McPherson. It’s gonna f it up good, but I understand why they might have done it if folks couldn’t go straight at the intersection. I’d say use Metropolitain, but they block the road for folks wanting to turn left too… it’s just rude drivers, and a knee jerk reaction to get a fix going instead of painting “leave this zone free” and using big white strips….

  9. Gentri says:

that’d be “stripes”…. although whitening strips might help also…….

  10. Cory says:

Off-topic: I was reading your Survivor post from last week and I agree they should swap beaches based on the winner (much like this season’s The Apprentice which sucked too much for me to keep watching). However, there are 2 immunity idols, not one. I presume they’re both located under each cave so that the clues are universal.

  11. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

Ah, I was unaware that there was more than one immunity idol.

I gave up on The Apprentice as well.

  12. Barb says:

do you know for sure there are 2 immunity idols?

  13. Cory says:

I thought I remembered it from the first episode…they didn’t make a big deal about it, nor have they mentioned it since, so I was skeptical if I remembered it correctly.

I found multiple sources to confirm there are 2 (here’s one):

If you can’t access from work here’s the headline: “Survivor: Fiji: Two Idols, Two Twists and Lotsa Snakes!”

  14. Stac(e)y says:

Hey, now, I’m short, but not *midget* short! Unless you are referring to one of the other myriad of Stac(e)y’s who read your blog. (We are Borg…you will assimilate.)

On another note, thanks for the warning about the spoiler on Survivor. I still haven’t seen last week, but aim to do so via the puter.

  15. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

I am a man who has acquaintance with many women whose names all sound like “stay-see”.

If thou hath no ‘e’ in thy name then ye are not the one to whom I refer.

She who hath the ‘e’ also hath the love of all those who are not tall enough to ride the rides at Six Flags.

  16. I doubt removing the “except right turn” will result in what we in the transportation industry call a grade a clusterfuck. It’s been my experience that 90 percent of the bumblefucktards turning right stop anyway, because Georgians can’t read, complements of a shitty public school system.

Georgia DOT made the decision on Moreland at North Avenue, since Moreland is a state route.
