No I don’t mean this Office (which I watched and thoroughly enjoyed last night), I mean my work’s office.
It’s Friday and I am at work. Go me! Today will be a really busy day so expect this to be short and sweet, just like… nevermind.
Why Are You National Grain?
This was supposed to be in yesterday’s entry, but I forgot. However, it’s still applicable for today.
On Wednesday night I sat down the bar from Shane Joiner, who is one of the members of Atlanta’s (band formerly known as?) National Grain. The confusion in the last sentence is not because Shane has left the band, but as he explained to me, one of the other members (whose name I’ve forgotten) has. He told me that they have enough new material in the can to put toward a new album, but are waiting to see what happens before they do so.
While looking for news about the band (see, there are times I do some research) I found out that some of the remaining band members are going to join forces with members from a band called Sonoramic Commando and play an early gig (5:00pm!) at Atlanta Brewing Company. If I didn’t already have plans I’d probably be down there drinking a Red Brick Ale while listening to some cool music…

The Jackmobile has 58k+ of rough roads under its tires. Like an obedient dog it was happily waiting for me at the Marta station when I returned from work last night.
I realize that this is not the worlds greatest photo, but for a camera phone it’s pretty decent.
Taking It To The Studio
After much deliberation I signed up for the Studio 1 class offered by Showcase on the weekend of March 10th/11th. I’ve never been trained in the techniques of proper photo lighting (can you tell?), and while I am sure that there are many great books on the subject, by the time I get around to reading one will probably be 2012.
Wide Open Weekend
This weekend is highly unusual in that I have nothing scheduled for either of the two nights. Sure, tonight I’ll be at the Horizon Theatre, but as for Saturday and Sunday nights I am free. Think you have a good suggestion what I should on either of those two night? I’d certainly love to hear it.
Go West Young Man
One final request….
I am contemplating a trip to Arizona over Memorial Day weekend (that’s right, no Hedon for me this year kiddies) plus adding a day or two on each side. Do you have any decent sites for learning where to go, and what to see in a city/state you’ve never visited? I’ll be dragging the camera with me so the more photogenic the scenery, the better. I expect to fly into Phoenix and rent a car but after that I am completely flexible.
And if Canadian Tamara is reading this, this trip does not put the kibosh on the idea of going even farther West to visit you.
And now for some ideas stolen from LiveJournal…
Current Mood – okay
Current Music – Sirius Satellite Radio, Channel 26 playing Bloc Party — “The Prayer”
Website Of The Day – I might be the only person in Atlanta who has not stepped inside an IKEA (not today’s link). However, others who do have figured out how to hack their IKEA furniture. Check out the IKEAhacker blog to see what they’ve come up with.
Exercise (b)Log – nada
February Goals
1) Lose two pounds. (starting weight ~205 lbs)
2) Run no fewer than fifty miles.
3) Do twenty push-ups and fifty sit-ups at least three times a week.
4) Read two books.
5) Go to the Center For Puppetry Arts.
6) Use Marta for commuting at least one day per week.
7) Get all 2007 information into Google Calendar.
Cheers,
Paulie [eatl/ga]
Good for you for being a worker bee. 🙂
I know you didn’t watch Survivor last night, but they showed a commercial for Amazing Race All Stars. Starts 2/18. Freaking Rob and Amber return. As well as Charla (the “little person.”) Very interesting…
Phoenix has The Great Alaskan Bush Company (shamelss plug for my sister’s club, she owns the place, and was never a dancer). Yes, I have an eclectic family. If you let me know the dates, I can get you in the door free, but lap dances will not be free. Seriously though, we will be out there for 4 days at the beginning of April, I’ll do some scouting.
Places where women get nekkid? My virgin eyes couldn’t handle that. 😛
Amity, I am doing me best to be a good worker be.
Where is the Friday photo?
so your sister never subs in when someone calls in sick? hypocrite! Let’s open The Great Atlanta Bush Company, we could put it in EAV by Gravity!
I was wondering why you didn’t mention National Grain in yesterdays blog. And here I am thinking I’m the only one who forgets stuff.

Mike and I are planning on going to AZ in the fall. We’ve heard Sedona is supposed to be incredibly beautiful – about 2 hours out from Phoenix.
@Gentri: You are not seeing the dashboard picture? Perhaps we can open an “establishment” in the Wachovia building when they move.
@Steve: I am just mister forgetful.
@Susan: Thanks. If I head that way I’ll gladly post enough pictures for you to see.
My little brother (if you can call 6’3″ a little brother!) lives in Phoenix. I’ll ask him for some ideas for ya!
Sedona is beautiful, but so is Flagstaff and of course, the Grand Canyon.
Given that I’ll be out there mostly for photography (see, I finally found a reason to travel) I’ll mostly likely not spend the entire time in one city.
Gentri – I can ask Connie about franchising – since obviously by the name of the joint it isn’t like theirs was the first one. It isn’t a bad business to be in, she isn’t poor….. She tells me she has never danced, and now after 2 kids, I’m sure she wouldn’t. Only crazy folks at the Clairmont want to see dancers that aren’t young.
Paulie – I was talking about a new regular blog feature called “Paulie Friday Portrait” every Friday. My truck just hit 111111 the other day…. of course I looked at it when it said 111114….
Barb – I’d be happy to get in on a franchise, I’m thinking it’s time for a job change…. although I was also thinking of calling mine the “Fur Palace”. Classy, no? Ask Connie if I can be her apprentice for 6 months to learn the ropes and then I’ll come back to ATL and open “The Great East Alaskan Bush Company”. The name really is funny… and I’m almost NOT kidding.
I see what you were getting at now, Gentri. Sorry, eventhough I helped drink up a good amount of wine last night I wasn’t feeling anywhere near as bad as when I woke up last Friday.
Fur Palace? Hell no, the name of your place should be “Bush Whackers.”
Re: The Wii—There’s all sorts of debates in dork web-forums about why there’s not enough Wii’s. My fav. reason has to do with the ‘accelerato-meter’ or gyroscope rumble thingie in the Wii-motes—some argue that they’re causing the production delays. But I say, ‘WHO CARES WHY the stores STILL don’t have MY Wii I just want it.’ I hope lots more folks get sick of waiting—ohh ohh Guitar Hero on the Wii—man that should be FUN FUN FUN.
