On The Last Day Of The First Month

I’m Not Gonna Make It
Meh! Let’s just say that January didn’t turn out the way I had planned. I blame no one but myself.

1) Lose two pounds. (starting weight 205 lbs)
Probably not going to happen. I feel huge right now so I don’t even want to know the numbers.

2) Run no fewer than fifty miles.
I’d have run thirty miles tonight to make fifty. Guess what, it’s not going to happen. Although I will take some credit for riding my trainer twice, something that was not on the list.

3) Do twenty push-ups and fifty sit-ups at least three times a week.
Nope.

4) See Manchester Orchestra in concert.
Nope.

5) Read two books.
Very, very close.

Tune in tomorrow to see February’s Goals. Expect to see most of January’s Goals repeated…

More Shooting, Less Shopping
Too often when I have time to kill between work and another commitment I swing by a Best Buy or Target, or worse go out to eat. With my camera nearly always available to me there is no reason I shouldn’t attempt to shoot pictures instead. Of course there will be days where the weather is shit and I don’t want to ruin my equipment, but those days should be few and far between.

ITP Flickr Pic
Here’s a shot I took for my photography class

Candles In Black And White

What’s funny is that I didn’t think it is a very good shot, but people seem to really like it. Go figure.

On a Flickr side note, I received an email addressed to “old skool” Flickrites telling us that we need to convert our old Flickr logins to Yahoo! logins. Luckily I “own” the InsideThePerimeter user id at Yahoo! already otherwise I would be completely ticked.

Am I Printing With Gold?!?!
On Sunday I attempted to print out running routes for my friends only to find out that my printer’s ink cartridges had “run out” of ink (again). I have been planning on purchasing a new printer, you know one that works with a Mac, but haven’t found “the one” just yet. Because of this I figured it’d be best to buy some black ink for my current printer until such time as I find the printer of my dreams. One Lexmark black in cartridge at Target cost me $29.99 (plus sales tax). Holy crap! While I sort of understand why ink cartridges cost more than their older-technology counterparts, but thirty bucks for one black ink cartridge? C’mon, this stinks of price gouging. I didn’t even consider getting a replacement color cartridge for fear that the $60 spent would be so much more than the printer is worth.

If anyone out there has a good printer suggestion I’d love to hear it.

Clap Your Hands Say “Hey, Where’s My T-Shirt?”
I admit it, when I pre-ordered my Clap Your Hands Say Yeah CD I got suckered into purchasing the “limited edition” t-shirt. I know that another t-shirt is the last thing my so-called wardrobe needed, but it’s a limited edition! Just think how cool I will look when I wear the shirt when I don’t see CYHSY in concert when they come back to Atlanta because I think that they’ve “sold out.” (I am really just kidding about this)

However, at least for the moment, I have been denied this opportunity because when my CYHSY goodness package arrived yesterday no t-shirt was included. Looks like it’s time to do a little investigation…

Watching, Cleaning, Hiding
Tonight will be the only night between now and Super Bowl Sunday that I will be able to clean. In an effort to be a multi-tasking, productive tv watcher I will be spending the night indoors “cleaning” the basement for the party whilst I watch the finale of Top Chef. The basement is not dirty per se, but it does have a lot of crap strewn about that needs to be hidden (insert your own “Paulie porn joke” here).

Remember, even if you went to the spoiler link that I posted yesterday I am still not interested in knowing the outcome until I watch it tonight.

And now for some ideas stolen from LiveJournal…
Current Mood – fat
Current Music – Sirius Satellite Radio, Channel 26 playing Ween — “It’s Gonna Be A Long Night”
Website Of The Day – Most of you know that I love animation. Cartoon Brew is another great animation-centric blog that I like to read.
Exercise (b)Log – none

January Goals
1) Lose two pounds. (starting weight 205 lbs)
2) Run no fewer than fifty miles.
3) Do twenty push-ups and fifty sit-ups at least three times a week.
4) See Manchester Orchestra in concert.
5) Read two books.

Cheers,
Paulie [eatl/ga]

at least you HAVE a goals list……. TMTOMH or as Styx would say, “too much time on my hands” is also a Gentri issue. I’ve been trying to channel it into house work of late, painting mainly, but I need to add a workout and career advancement column… it’s a very small spread sheet currently 😉

HP LaserJet 1022, newegg $179, cheap B&W printing, lasts forever, Mac compatible.

If you need help cleaning up some of that porn… er, I mean garbage, in the basement, give me a shout….

PS Aussie Rules football season is starting again!!!

    There’s a womens team also!

I got that same email from Flickr and it pisses me off because somehow (and I have no idea how) I’ve managed to already link my usual email address to a Flickr account that I don’t use and didn’t even know existed. So I had to invent a new Yahoo email and all that garbage. Bleech.

I think they should just reward us Old Skool folks by not making us conform to the new kids. Doesn’t anyone respect their elders anymore?

In other news, you’ve inspired me. I think I’m going to start making monthly goals too!

  4. Martha says:

Just concentrate on what you have accomplished. I had several false starts in the past few months. You will know when you are ready.

I still haven’t got past the second page of Jane Eyre yet, I guess I’m becoming too much of a jock!

  5. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

@Stacy: Bummer on the Flickr. If you publish your goals I look forward to reading them.

@Martha: I try to see the positive. I positively ate way too much food for lunch today. Bad Paulie!

Before buying a new printer, I always check our the prices for the ink cartridges for each printer I’m considering. It’s worth dropping $50 extra for a printer that uses cheaper cartridges.

  7. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

Good point K1ng. At one point in time I saw a list of cost per page printed for a number of printers. I wish I could find a list like that again.

  8. Gentri says:

Anything with Ink vs. toner will cost you a LOT more. B&W laserjets are the cheapest… if you need color often, now the color laserjets beat out the inkjets per printing, however if you need PHOTO quality, then inkjet is really the only way to go for home use currently. Costs also vary widely by what kind of things you are printing on the color machines.
