Twelve Days: Day Nine

For the next twelve days I will give you the item for that day from the song “The Twelve Days of Christmas” along with the gift I would like to receive. You will see quickly that mine may not always be material, but are just as strange…

Song: Nine Ladies Dancing
Paulie: Nine Ladies Dancing (now that’s what I am talking about!)

And Then Darren Said “Let There Be Light”
My soon-to-be over the hill friend Darren came by the house and fixed up that light fixture which drove me to frustration Monday. Now I can see my wardrobe again, Holy Christ I have no fashion sense!

Thanks buddy. I’ll be glad to return the favor, just let me know when you need some code written or a self-deprecating joke. I am not a great electrician but I am really good at doing those…

It Was Beginning To Feel A Lot Like Wednesday
Last night I sat down and was ready to watch another episode of Top Chef on Bravo. I was flummoxed when I saw that Top Chef wasn’t being shown. Then I realized that last night was Tuesday and not Wednesday. D’oh!

I guess I have just been jonesing for my weekly fix of Gail Simmons.

Aw, Rats!
Last week I went to Amazon.com to buy a Christmas gift for someone special (that would be me). The gift could have been bought locally but I didn’t want to pay sales tax and I figured with my illustrious Amazon Prime status I’d get free shipping. Amazon wasn’t selling the product and the only vendor selling it through Amazon wanted $50 than I could get locally. I wound up going to another online vendor, NewEgg, and making the purchase; where I received slower delivery free.

Then yesterday I logged onto Amazon only to see that they now sell the product. Rats!

I really like this picture.

Superheroes Stamps

It’s the only one of the dozen or so shots that I took of this sheet of stamps that I like.

Identity Crisis
There are times I wonder about those to whom I give money. Yesterday I received the following from the High Museum

Your membership with the High Museum of Art has recently lapsed and I wanted to be in touch one more time before we remove you from the Museum’s mailing list. You are a good friend to the Museum and your involvement is important to us.

and then a few minutes later

Thank you for your involvement with the High Museum of Art in 2006. Your membership expires at the end of March, and we hope you will renew early for another full year of benefits. Come celebrate all that membership offers in the year ahead.

One these must be wrong…

And now for some ideas stolen from LiveJournal…
Current Mood – Wednesday meh and disappointed that I didn’t take care of something when I should have and now it’s too late
Current Music – Sirius Satellite Radio, Channel 26 playing Sebadoh — “Ocean”
Website Of The Day – Another day another Social Networking / Story Promoting site has been found. Today’s entry is PopCurrent.
Exercise (b)Log – none

Cheers,
Paulie [eatl/ga]

Nine Ladies Dancing? I have a suspicion that you could get that if you hang around 8th and Spring.

  2. Smoove D says:

How do you feel about the Killers? This has nothing to do with the post, I’m just curious. And yes, I have been drinking.

  3. p.s. Gail gets the Smoove D Smokin’ Hot seal of approval. Rachael Ray is getting jealous…

  4. Miss.Anthrop says:

One pays no sales tax in OR. One had no AC or DC in OR last week. One, (me), is happy to have power again. One, (me), now understands why Poverty of Survivor would pay so much for a bath of fresh water. I had to haul water from the creek to bathe last week—PLUS all the stores in that small Oregon coast town (sans sales tax) had NO Wiis! Wasted trip…. I hate people…

  5. Miss.Anthrop says:

ps. Newegg is WAY better than others (tiger direct or brick and mortar).

  6. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

@Leah: I am sure I could have, but that’s not quite what I was seeking. 🙂

@Smoove D: I am a marginal Killers fan. I owned “Hot Fuss” once but it was part of the booty when my car was stolen and I never replaced it. I never bought into the new album.

@Miss.Anthrop: I’m not a fan of sales tax but completely prefer it to income tax. Being stuck with both (along with a ridiculously high Ad Valorem auto-tag tax, and high property taxes) really sucks.

I really like Newegg, but my heart belongs to Amazon first.
