But Is It Black Friday In Canada?

Today is “Black Friday.” For the first time in many years (read “since I worked for Toys ‘R’ Us in college) I am working on Black Friday. I was stunned to pass by shopping center parking lots and see them filled at 6am. Crazy fucking people!

I Saw It On The YouTube!
Because I watched a television program Call For Help I learned about an intelligent, yet stunning Canadian nerd named Amber MacArthur .

On Amber’s blog this week was a link to this YouTube video from a group of people known as Don’t Be That Guy Films. For those of you who live in the Atlanta area, give the video a watch and see if you can recognize where it was filmed.

Oh Tofurky, You Try So Hard
Last night was the first time I’ve been to a Thanksgiving dinner at which vegetarians were present. I’m sure that I’d have recognized this in the past because of vegetarians’ unwillingness to shake my hand in fear of bone breakage.

I watched my friend Randy pull the Tofurky from its box. To me it looked like an oversized liverwurst. They had gone as whole-hog as vegetarians do and gotten the Tofurky Feast containing

* One Tofurky Roast (made with organic non-genetically engineered soybeans)
* Eight Cranberry Apple Potato Dumplings
* Tofurky “Giblet” & Mushroom Gravy
* Herbed brown and Tofurky Wild Rice Stuffing
* Tofurky Jurky Wishstix

The Tofurky Jurky Wishtix made me laugh the loudest because they looked like two little strips of beef jerky. Why continue to make vegetarian food look like meat? I obviously just don’t understand…

Happy Thanksgiving!

In The Holiday Spirit

Happy Birthdeh!
Today marks the birthday of one non-American friends Tamara. Given the fact that Tamara is non-American she didn’t get to celebrate our Super Fantastic Thanksgiving yesterday. Canadians are silly, they don’t know when to celebrate holidays. They celebrate Thanksgiving around Columbus Day, and they even manage to celebrate Independence Day (July 4th) on the wrong day.

For all I know today is not really Tamara’s birthday because she is Canadian and as I just pointed out Canadians are calendar-impaired.

Either way I still want to wish my best non-American friend Tamara a Happy Birthday and if she was still in Atlanta I’d buy her a beer and some french fries smothered in gravy.

And now for some ideas stolen from LiveJournal…

Is this a trick question? Virginia Highland.

Not a trick question. You are correct.

When I watched the video I had no idea it was shot in Atlanta. I started thinking “That looks like the Highlands” but have been wrong about this in the past, so I figured I was wrong. Then I saw the Marta bus stop sign and realized that I was right.

I just thought that it was kinda cool that it was shot here.
