It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas (In The CD Racks)

All of the Christmas CDs are resurfacing. I just hope that retailers knock some of the dust off of last year’s stock.

I’d Buy That For A Dollar
I’ve read that in-store stamp machines at the post office are going the way of the friendly postman who delivered mail on foot. Like the Do-Do birds and dinosaurs, that is.

Realizing that my trips to the post office are as frequent as those to banks and grocery stores I decided to try my hand at ordering stamps online (oooh, how 1998 of me!) I logged onto the Post Office’s site and purchased a couple of booklets for my annual Christmas Card Dispersal Plan. (btw- if you desire a Christmas card from me, shoot me your address via email — look at the right hand galley if you don’t know my email address — and I’ll add you to the list) The immature little boy in me couldn’t resist buying the Super Heroes (it’s too bad that you no longer have to lick stamps, I’d certainly like to lick Wonder Woman’s ass) and Baseball Sluggers (because it never hurts to learn a little trivia with your stampage) stamps.

The stamp service is provided with a $1 surcharge. Hell, that’s less than the price of three first-class stamps!

A Chink My Phone Purchase Plan?
Just when I’ve settled on buying (with one failed attempt already) the Samsung BlackJack as my next cellphone I hear rumors that Apple is producing an iPod phone that will be announced in January. Now it’s just a rumor at this point. And, there is no mention of the smartphone functionality that I am drooling for either. But it’s a goddamn iPod phone! How much do I want to wait and see, that is the question…

You Got Me Until 2010, Baby
I just renewed registration for the domain www.InsideThePerimeter.com for another three years. That’s right, it’s all mine until Feb 2010! W00t!

Some of you might wonder why I had not locked it up longterm previously. When I first acquired the domain registration prices were silly and the best deal I could find was $25 a year. As prices dropped my domain registrar for InsideThePerimeter.com (Domain Discover) was slow to follow so I maintained one-year renewals. They have finally seen the light of day and dropped their price for .com registrations to $9.95, which is still higher than some of the other players, but low enough for me not to have to dick around with a domain transfer.

Three More Years!
Three More Years!

CD Pick Of The Week
I’m just going to take the easy way out today and pick Sufjan Stevens’ “Songs For Christmas”. This release contains five, yes five CDs worth of Christmas goodness. Jesus H Christ, I didn’t even know that much Christmas music existed!

And now for some ideas stolen from LiveJournal…
Current Mood – cold
Current Music – Sirius Satellite Radio, Channel 26 playing Billy Bragg — “A New England”
Website Of The Day – Want to be part of the next blogging social network? Then get your ass over to MyBlogLog and sign up.
Exercise (b)Log – um, none?

Cheers,

  1. Martha says:

I’ve been ordering my stamps online for years now. $1 is a small price to pay to not interact with anyone at the Post Office. I probably don’t use a book of stamps a year anymore, since I pay my bills online.

When I was a kid, we could leave money in the mail box and the mail ‘person’ would leave stamps for us. I doubt that would work too well in the ‘hood.

When I was a kid we actually had a milkman as well.

I rarely use stamps because most of my bills are paid electronically as well.
