Itchy And Scratchy

Sometime over the past weekend I encountered poison ivy or oak because there have been small patches of my body itching all this week. It was probably when I was pulling some weeds waiting for my friends to show up for the Braves game Saturday night. Man I hate the itching…

A Man Walks Into A Dermatologist’s Office
As I blogged yesterday I went to see a doctor, a dermatologist really. There are a few things that I learned from this visit.
– When prescribed a medication at your last visit three months ago you should probably attempt to use it if you want to see results. Otherwise when you fess up that you never got around to using it you will feel like a dolt when you return.
– If there is a really pretty girl working at the office (a nurse perhaps) I have no chance to pick her up. She not only knows my deepest secrets, but can lookup my medical history (including a trip to a cardiologist) in a irregularly-skipping heartbeat.
– I might have sleep apnea. While trying to explain why I hadn’t used the medication as directed the doctor and I started discussing my sleep habits. He confessed to having sleep apnea and gave me the name of the doctor who’s help he saught. Wtf, I’ve got a grand to blow on medical expenses, I might as well check it out.

Is There Such A Thing As Photographer’s Block?
Because I am suffering. Twice yesterday I tried to get myself out for photo shoots but never could think of a good place to go. Anyone out there have some suggestions for me, preferrably places I can go solo safely?

The Unicorn Was Drunk And So Was I!
My first trip to the Drunken Unicorn was a massive success. The space is perhaps better known for being near MJQ, but not being a young partier any longer I had never visited the space. The sound in the room is great, I’d highly recommend seeing a show their if you get the chance. It’s located across the street from Ghetto (aka Murder) Kroger on Ponce, an area I felt quite comfortable in until reading Preston Craig’s blogpost today.

I arrived after a few beers during an unplanned visit to George’s Bar (which I visited because I didn’t know where to shoot after eating dinner at Rocky Mountain Pizza).

The first band to take the stage, Atlanta’s own Elevado didn’t do much for me at first, but toward the end of their set I found myself digging their sound.

Silversun Pickups, the band I was there to see (and from the decline in attendees after their set I was not alone), took the stage next. Silversun Pickups are a four-piece from LA (shit, I sound like a WRAS DJ) including a female bassist (always like to see the ladies in the bands). I ran into a co-worker and his fiancee who were fortunate enough to see their set last year when they played the Drunken Unicorn. The fact that they had returned told me I was in for a treat. The set was filled with energy, conversation between band and crowd, and great music. After their set the band mingled with the crowd who remained.

Dirty on Purpose was the headlining act. I stayed for about three of their songs before leaving the club. I had to remind myself that it was a Wednesday and that I had already burned a paid-day off this week, so I needed to head home. Because I only heard a few songs I cannot comment on the bands sound.

And now for some ideas stolen from LiveJournal…
Current Mood – bothered by the itch
Current Music – Sirius Satellite Radio, Channel 26 playing Silversun Pickups — “Lazy Eye”
Website Of The Day – Doing things a little differently today. Today I’m giving props to another great blog here in Atlanta, kissatlanta.
Exercise (b)Log – 2 hours of yard work that was good enough for me

Cheers,
Paulie [eatl/ga]

hey – Banger Not! brother (Daffy) does sleep study stuff – I bet he knows a bunch about sleep apnea.

He reminded me of that yesterday. However, I’m not sure if I want Kevin anywhere near me when I sleep. 🙂

  5. Barb says:

Kevin is not that bad….. (he paid me to say that) And, he is in management now – he doesn’t get to watch people sleep anymore. He does the daytime analysis work. You are safe.
