Clap Your Hands Say Meh
You know that I love Clap Your Hands Say Yeah. I picked their cd as my favorite of 2005, and their show last year at The EARL was fantastic.
Friday night’s CYHSY show at the Variety Playhouse was superior to last year’s show (with the exception of the microphone snafu at the show’s start). However when comparing my emotions throughout the show, the intimacy of The EARL made that show much more enjoyable to me.
Am I Supposed To Know You?
Before going to the show Friday night I swung by the Edgewood Best Buy. Much to my surprise the place was hopping. Apparently the rapper Juvenile was scheduled to make an appearance and it was drawing a large crowd. Mr. White Bread (me) has no clue who Juvenile is so it’s needless to say that I didn’t get into the line in order to meet him.
A Little Bit Of Impressionism In My Life
I woke early yesterday so that I could drive up to Einstein Brothers in Midtown to get bagels for the Sunday Runners’ group that was to meet at my house.
As I drove up 14th Street I noticed this cool image made available by the newly constructed 1180 Peachtree building.
Imagine my further surprise when I saw that Hannahbeth had posted this picture to Flickr yesterday… (which is might brighter than mine of course. Must. Learn. Photo Editing!)
Great minds thinking alike…
And now for some ideas stolen from LiveJournal…
Current Mood – not bad
Current Music – nothing, listening to the “Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me!” podcast

I totally agree about CYHSY. The show seemed to be missing some energy or something – I thought maybe the venue was too large for them so soon, but it also could have been because we were back so far. I bet the people in the pit had a different experience.
Yeah, I wondered how their show would transfer to a larger venue. Maybe it was better in the pit, but that would have meant being up there for Dr Dog. 🙂
Took my girl to see the show on yours and Mingaling’s recommendations. I thought they were great. We were up in the pit, and it was definitely a good vibe and energy. They did mess up the mic on the lead for pretty much the entire first song, but once they got that squared away it was great. Enjoyed my Sweetwater 420’s and the music a lot, as did my girl. Thanks! Do you not like Dr. Dog?
Oh, and Juvenile would be the dude who sang “Back That Ass Up” with such resounding lyrics as “You’s a big fine woman, won’t you back that ass up”
Thanks for droppin’ the knowledge Oliver! When I hear about hip-hop/rap artists I understand the clueless looks that I get when I talk to most people about the bands I like.
I wasn’t a fan of Dr Dog. I’ll give them big props for getting into their music and having passion, however I shan’t be going out and purchasing their music anytime soon.
Glad to hear you and your girl enjoyed the show.
i thought the earl show as also lacking in energy. i think their quirky sounkd implies they’re gonna be OFF THE WALL CRAZY live, but they never are.
Perhaps I supplied the energy at The Earl, because I was way more into it there.
